Towards the end of Another Simple Favor, something happens that becomes a major cliffhanger. It paves the way to a threequel of the Simple Favor film series.

A sequel to the original film in 2018, A Simple Favor, this film is a twisty tale that takes place in the aftermath of Emily's arrest in the last movie. In this film, it seems like Emily has returned from her jailbreak and is now set to marry a dashing Italian man, Dante. A lot of the cast from the original film returns in this film, along with some fresh cast as well.

However, the actual story of the film is even more twistier, messier, and well, sinister. It opens up more revelations and history about the McLander sisters, and some gruesome murders take place. At the end of the film, a cliffhanger scene gives out all the possibilities of an upcoming third film in the series.

Let us dive deeper into the major cliffhanger scene of Another Simple Favor.

What happens at the end of Another Simple Favor?

In the course of Another Simple Favor, the one who we had thought was Emily was actually not her. It was Charity, the third child of the triplet sisters. It gets revealed that Emily and Faith's sister, Charity, was not a stillborn child after all. She was taken in by Emily's aunt, Linda. Oh, by the way, Linda is a big-time con artist, and Charity impersonates Emily as per Linda's plan.

Actually, Linda wanted Emily to give away a share of her wealth to her. Since Emily refused, Linda then set up Charity at the wedding to catfish as Emily. Emily is kidnapped by Linda. Emily had actually broken out of prison with the help of Dante, who belongs to a family of gangsters. That is when Linda started her string of blackmailing Emily.

Emily and Dante's wedding was not an actual one, as Dante also has his own secrets. This wedding is just a show, to hide the fact that Dante is in fact romantically involved with Matteo, a man from a family Dante's family is enemies with. Hatching a perfect plan to acquire all the wealth of Dante, as well as to trap Stephanie, Sean, and Dante, gets killed in the process by Charity.

Portia, the mother of Dante, holds Stephanie hostage as she is under the impression that Stephanie is behind the murders. That is when the real Emily comes in and saves Stephanie from the situation. Linda, meanwhile, holds Emily's son Nicky hostage.

Amid all these schemes and murders, there is one thing we do not expect. It is revealed that Charity actually loves her sister, Emily. Linda had always used Charity for his evil schemes, and this time, Charity does not budge. She ends up killing Linda instead. In the end, Charity takes up Emily's place in the prison.

Emily strives to go ahead in life, starting over with a clean slate. She joins Dante's family as a part of it. But here comes the major cliffhanger scene. Towards the end of Another Simple Favor, Portia hands over an envelope to Emily.

In the last scene, Portia tells Emily:

"Deep in my heart I knew you would never have hurt my Dante. I will keep your secret."

Emily agrees and says that Dante was indeed her good friend. But then, Portia shifts from her softer tone to her classic, intimidating one. She utters as she hands Emily the envelope:

"But my son is still dead because of you. However, I consider you to be part of the family now, and I expect a lot from family. So because of this, I have a simple favour to ask of you..."

To which, Emily asks:

"How simple?"

What is inside the envelope is still a mystery in Another Simple Favor. Going by the nature of the previous events in the entire film series, this favour does not look simple at all. We cannot even assume the depths of 'how simple' it is going to get.

By looking at this scene and the conversation taking place between the two, it looks like Emily's secret could be used as leverage by Portia, who is grieving the death of her son. Portia's bitterness towards Emily is very evident in her words.

Also, we must not forget that Portia, after all, belongs to an influential criminal family. It seems like Emily would be used to do some dirty work under the guise of 'a simple favour' by Portia. This plot could lead to a sequel to Another Simple Favor.
