Popular American actor Edward Faulkner passed away on August 26, 2025, at age 93. According to his daughter, Edward died of natural causes at a health care facility in Vista, California.
Edward Faulkner was known for his roles in several of John Wayne’s films including The Undefeated, Hellfighters, The Green Berets, Rio Lobo, and McLintock.
Faulkner made his big-screen debut in the 1960 film G.I. Blues. Before then, Edward’s interest in acting was limited to being a hobby. When he was studying business at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Faulkner landed three lead roles in the university’s theatre productions: “The Dover Road,” “Born Yesterday,” and “Detective Story.”
Years after landing several significant roles in John Wayne’s films, Edward described the American actor as a good and simple man.
“One of the most frequently asked questions is, 'What was John Wayne really like?' My answer? '...What you saw, was what you got!'... But I think Katharine Hepburn, in her book 'Me,' put it best when she said, ..... 'When you buy a cotton shirt, you want to get a cotton shirt. Not nylon. It stays clean, but it makes you sweat. Not drip-dry, which you don't have to press, but you should. Just cotton. Good simple long lasting cotton. No synthetics. That's what you get when you get John Wayne. That's what I got. And as you can see----I liked it.' .....”
