Elijah Wood talks about Ready or Not: Here I Come, while praising its original film

Elijah Wood, who will be starring in the forthcoming sequel Ready or Not: Here I Come, has made some revelations about the film. In a conversation with Bloody Disgusting, the actor reveals that the storyline of the sequel happens shortly after the events of the 2019 film conclude.

The actor also mentions how the sequel will enhance many aspects of the first film. Its mythological elements, which are a crucial part of its storytelling, will be explored in more complexity and layers in the upcoming film. It will delve further into the family’s history and relationship with the supernatural entity, the Devil. Here is what Wood states:

“What I love about this sequel is that it really deepens that mythology. So I’m stoked for people to see it because I think — It’s a movie that takes place almost immediately after the first one ends and enriches everything you love about the original film.”

In the interview, Elijah Wood also praises the production company behind the franchise, Radio Silence, as well as the original film, stating:

“I’m a big fan of Radio Silence. I love their films. I love the original. I think Ready or Not is a total blast. It’s not even really a horror movie, it’s kind of — it’s horror adjacent — it’s kind of action-comedy-horror melange."

He further extends his praise to actor Samara Weaving and the entire cast, saying:

“I love Samara [Weaving] in that film. I love the cast of that movie and the kind of nugget of the mythology that you get.”

The first film of the franchise, Ready or Not, was released in 2019. The film follows the plot of Grace Maccaulay (played by Samara Weaving), who, soon after her fairy-tale wedding, witnesses the most horrifying chapter of her life. On her wedding night, her in-laws propose a game to her, which is part of their family ritual.

What initially seems like a harmless game quickly becomes a terrifying struggle for Grace. Dark secrets unfold as the family engages in occultish rituals in relation to the Devil. By the end of Ready or Not, all the other family members die, except Grace.

The film has garnered a decent rating of 6.8/10 on IMDb and an impressive rating of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Ready or Not: Here I Come is scheduled for release next year, on April 10, 2026. Along with Elijah Wood and Samara Weaving, the film stars Kathryn Newton, David Cronenberg, Kevin Durand, and Sarah Michelle Gellar.
