A picture of Amy Schumer using a walker has gone viral on social media. The popular American stand-up comedian and actress shared a photo on her official Instagram page on Friday, August 8, wearing purple sweatpants and an orange sweatshirt while balancing with a walker.
She captioned the post:
“Since my surfing injury back in the day, my L5 has been killing me. Today I got a laminectomy! It's a short recovery, and when I'm feeling better, I will buy a bra!”
The post quickly garnered several reactions as fans and well-wishers took to the comments section to empathise with her and hope for a quick recovery. @allisonhagendorf wrote:
“Ugh, I didn't know you suffer from this, too. I'm with you! I'm truly hoping this brings you some relief, and until then, you look adorable as always!”
According to the Instagram post, the 44-year-old "I Feel Pretty" actress underwent a laminectomy, which is spinal surgery to remove part of the back arch or a spinal bone due to a past surfing accident that hurt her L5.
The actress also shared a picture of herself in the hospital on her Instagram story. She wrote:
“Overheard post back surgery ‘pickle ball keeps this place in business.’”

On Saturday, August 9, 2025, Amy Schumer celebrated the tenth anniversary of her directorial debut. Her first work as a director was the third episode of the third season of the series “Inside Amy Schumer,” titled “12 Angry Men Inside Amy Schumer.”
The actress celebrated this milestone with an Instagram post. She shared a carousel of photos showing some of the cast members, including Jeff Goldblum, Chris Gethard, Nick Di Paolo, Vincent Kartheiser, Adrian Martinez, Kevin Kane, Henry Zebrowski, John Hawkes, George Riddle, Paul Giamatti, Kumail Nanjiani, and Chris Beetem.
