LeBron James is facing a lawsuit from a twenty-nine-year-old Lakers fan following the controversy over 'The Second Decision.'

The American basketball power forward shared a video on Instagram recently with the caption:

"The decision of all decisions."

The video quickly went viral, with many speculating it could be a hint that LeBron is retiring after his NBA season. Ticket prices for the Lakers’ final home game of the 2025-26 season against Cleveland on March 31, 2026, also jumped.

Among the fans, a LeBron fan, Andrew Garcia, also bought two tickets for $432.83 each, which led to the total of $865.66. However, the video later turned out to be just an ad for Hennessy.

Following the announcement, Garcia filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Small Claims Court on October 8, seeking full reimbursement for the two tickets he had purchased to see LeBron's match.

Andrew Garcia claims that James should pay him back in the court papers, according to TMZ, citing:

"fraud, deception, misrepresentation, and any and all basis of legal recovery."

He further told the outlet:

"I wouldn't have purchased it if he wasn't going to retire. Plain and simple."

What did LeBron James say in the Hennessy ad?

In the teaser video, LeBron James was shown sitting across from another man on a basketball court. It ended abruptly with the text, “The Second Decision.” The video didn’t mention the brand Hennessy, which led fans to speculate that it could be a retirement announcement.

However, the reveal was made on October 8 through a video uploaded on James and Hennessy's social media. In the video, the basketball player was asked how he plans to use his talent this year. Answering the question, LeBron said:

"In this fall…man this is tough… In this fall, I'm going to be taking my talents to Hennessy VSOP."

The video was originally uploaded by Hennessy, a drink company, on YouTube, titled "Hennessy x LeBron: The Second Decision."

The video was ultimately revealed to be an advertisement for the brand, with LeBron promoting Hennessy VSOP, putting an end to fans’ retirement rumors and clarifying that “The Second Decision” was not related to his NBA future.

While many fans were relieved that LeBron James wasn’t retiring, others expressed disappointment after spending high prices on tickets, believing they were purchasing a farewell game experience.

As of now, LeBron James has not responded or commented on the lawsuit filed against him by Andrew Garcia.
