You can now watch Steve Martin’s 1991 classic, Father of the Bride on this OTT

If you have missed the ABC broadcast of Steve Martin's 1991 film, Father of the Bride, you don't need to worry at all! Because the film is available to stream on Disney Plus.

On Sunday, 27th July 2025, this classic rom-com was broadcast on ABC, from 8:35 pm to 11 pm ET. Steve Martin's birthday is on 14th August 2025, so this film was broadcast two weeks prior to the event to honor the legendary actor's special day.

This film is a remake of the 1950 film, starring Spencer Tracy, Joan Bennett, Elizabeth Taylor and many more. The original film was derived from a novel by Edward Streeter in 1949, named 'Father of the Bride'.

So, after 41 years, Charles Shyer remade the original film with the same title starrting Steve Martin. The film explores a father's complex feelings about seeing his daughter getting married, and how he grapples with the bitter-sweet truth. In honor of Steve Martin's birthday, ABC broadcast one of his classic films, Father of the Bride, on 27th July 2025. On this birthday on 14th August, the 79-year-old veteran actor will step into his eighties.

Steve Martin's Father of the Bride was a success both commercially and critically. Along with him, the film stars Diane Keaton, Kimberly Williams, Martin Short, George Newbern and many more.
