General Hospital Danger Alert: A gentle reminder that Danny and Charlotte can't be a couple

A few weeks ago, we wrote about how General Hospital seemed to be showing a close friendship starting between teens Danny Morgan and Charlotte Cassadine. Usually, when a soap shows such a friendship, it means it plans to go elsewhere. We now fear that GH has forgotten that can't happen between Danny and Charlotte and why.

The Cassadine cousins take a ride

It's actually unfortunate that Danny and Charlotte can never be a pair because Asher Antonyzyn and Bluesy Burke have lovely chemistry together, but Danny and Charlotte are also cousins, so this just won't work. Just like when they conspired in the PCPD interrogation room, some fans were intrigued by their January 5th scenes. As other fans pointed out, Danny and Charlotte have to be platonic.

It's hard to remember that these two are cousins because it's hard to remember how Danny is a Cassadine. Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) is the daughter of Mikkos Cassadine, making her grandson, Danny, a Cassadine via his mother, Sam (Kelly Monaco). Since Charlotte is Valentin's (James Patrick Stuart) daughter, it would make Danny and Charlotte third cousins. But still, cousins are cousins, and this is not The Bold and the Beautiful, where murky family relationships grow even murkier sometimes.

And we don't blame fans for seeing something in those Danny and Charlotte scenes. Danny took a girl for a ride on his dirt bike, reminding so many of Danny's parents, Jason and Sam. When a guy takes a girl for a ride on his motorcycle, that's a sign that something is supposed to happen between them, which makes us worry GH is heading toward the danger zone with a pair that just can't be.

A better match for General Hospital's Charlotte

Remember when Danny's brother, Jake (Hudson West), had a thing for Charlotte back in 2023? Jake even helped save Charlotte's life when Anna (Finola Hughes) accidentally shot her. He was so sweet when he brought her flowers in the hospital as she recovered, but, like the rest of Elizabeth's (Rebecca Herbst) children, he was written off the canvas for no real reason.

Jake is now in Europe studying at the Sorbonne, but he can always return to Port Chales one day and realize that Charlotte is the one for him. Since Jake and Danny are only half-brothers, making Jake a Quartermaine and a Webber, there is no reason at all that Jake can't date Charlotte.

Right now, Charlotte doesn't have any teen on the canvas she can date. Rocco (Finn Carr) is her brother, Danny is her cousin, so Jake would be the perfect love interest if GH wants to remember he exists — as well as remember why Danny and Charlotte just cannot be.
