There isn't a week in which General Hospital's Jane Elliot doesn't shine. After all, she is one of the longest-running players on America's longest-running soap, and she knows Tracy Quartermaine like the back of her hand. This past week, she showed us that when push comes to shove, family is everything — especially when it comes to her longtime rival and beloved sister-in-law, Monica.

Tracy finds Drew

When Tracy walked into Drew's (Cameron Mathison) home on Wednesday, she did so in anger, but still hoping to reason with the nephew she's been battling all year. She called out Drew's name with her usual Tracy acerbic tone, but as soon as she saw him lying on the floor in a pool of blood, everything changed.

Elliot took Tracy from aggrieved aunt to compassionate aunt before she could blink. She did everything she could to stop the bleeding and quickly called 911. You could see and hear her fear and deep-down caring nature when she told the paramedics that there was no way her nephew was going to ride in an ambulance alone.

Ultimately, Drew did have to go alone, as Anna (Finola Hughes) had some questions for a woman who had just come upon a crime scene. As Tracy told her story, Elliot switched between sharp-tongued, sarcastic Tracy and a shell-shocked woman who had just found her half-dead nephew on the floor of his living room.

General Hospital's Tracy has a mission

When Tracy got home, she somberly explained to Michael (Rory Gibson) and Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) what happened to Drew after they wondered why she was wearing a t-shirt and hoodie, two things we had never seen Tracy wear in more than 40 years.

When Tracy sat down to go over her evening, Elliot showed us what a fierce protector of Monica (the late Leslie Charleson) that Tracy has become. The woman she has sparred with for decades is now one of the most important people in her life, and she was going to do everything she could to shield Monica from the news about Drew for as long as possible.

During her most recent tenure on General Hospital, which started in 2023, Elliot has given Tracy a softer side rarely seen before. If we want wisdom, compassion, and often, a whole lot of laughs, Jane Elliot's Tracy is who we turn to.
