At her house, Alexis had her earbuds in while she was talking to her assistant, Suzanne. Unbeknownst to the legal eagle, Ric made it out of the basement and was standing by the stairway. After the call, Alexis was lying down on the couch when Ric came up from behind her and put the dagger that was used to kill her mother to her throat.

Ric taunted Alexis with the memory of the dagger. She conceded that he won and asked what he wanted. Keeping the dagger to her throat, he said he wanted her to call the police and confess to what she had done. Alexis cautioned him to think about the consequences of her making the call because they would all go down.

Alexis told Ric that he would like the basement more than he’d like a prison cell, but he kept pointing the dagger at her throat. As he backed her up against the fireplace mantle, Alexis said Molly wouldn’t like it if he killed her mother. He said she was right and had a better idea.

Ric then demanded that Alexis call Elizabeth. Just as Elizabeth answered, Ava tapped Ric on the back and, as he turned, she threw a stinging liquid in his face. He yelled out as he fell to the floor, and Ava kicked the dagger away. Ric got to his knees, but then Ava knocked him out with a wooden tray.

While Ric was knocked out, Alexis and Ava carried him back down to the basement. They were trying to figure out how he got loose. Alexis said he was very lucid for a guy who had been drugged for weeks. After searching the edges of the bed, Ava found the sleeping pills Ric had been spitting out and hiding under the mattress.

Ava pulled handcuffs out of her pocket and handcuffed Ric’s left arm to the bed. Ric woke up to find himself captive again. Ava said if he'd kept on running, he would have been free, but he stayed to try to get one over on Alexis because he was a greedy ass.

Ric said keeping him locked up was inhuman. Alexis apologized by saying, “I’m sorry that my basement lacks the amenities of the panic room you built to have Carly stashed in.” She told him it would only be ten more days until all of the extorted money (minus Ava’s divorce settlement) would be returned to Ace Cassadine’s trust. Ava and Alexis force-fed him a sleeping pill and put the ball gag back in his mouth.

At the hospital, the man who appeared to be Nathan was in his room reading a story about himself in the Port Charles Press. Liesl and Britt were in front of the elevators in the hallway when Spinelli and Felicia arrived with James. Britt looked scared when she realized James was there to meet Nathan. She introduced herself to James as his aunt and gave him some money to go to the vending machines. After James walked off, she told them that she couldn’t allow James to meet his dad just yet..

Britt tried to say it was because they shouldn’t rush, and father and son both needed to be ready. She even went so far as to question if Maxie would be okay with it. Felicia said she and Spinelli had talked about the situation and ultimately felt they couldn’t deny James the chance to meet his father. In another attempt to delay, Britt asked Felicia and Spinelli if they would consider consulting a child therapist to figure out the best way to introduce James to his father. They agreed with Britt, and Felicia said she would talk to James to help him understand why they were waiting to introduce him to his father.

Unbeknownst to them, James had walked into Nathan’s room. He brought him a soda, and Nathan looked sincere as he interacted with him. They shared a toast to both of them liking orange and grape soda. Realizing they didn’t know where James was, Spinelli, Felicia, Liesl, and Britt went to find him. They quickly discovered that James was already in the room with Nathan.

Britt watched concerningly from the side. Spinelli walked away. He felt they shouldn’t have brought James, but Felicia said they clearly were worried about nothing because James and Nathan were getting along so well. Spinelli admitted to being a bit jealous since he had been James’s de facto dad. Felicia assured him of how much James loved him. Spinelli then questioned whether or not his jealousy was clouding his judgment because he felt something was very wrong.

At the memorial wall in the hospital, Sonny was looking at Monica’s picture when Ronnie walked up. When she asked if Monica was a friend of his, he simply told her that they knew each other and he admired her very much. Sonny was surprised when she told him that Monica was her sister. She introduced herself and they had a friendly conversation.

When the topic of Tracy arose, Sonny remarked that Tracy liked to throw her weight around. Even after her confrontation in the crypt and getting kicked off the property, Ronnie claimed she was not about to be scared off by Tracy Quartermaine. Sonny remarked that he saw Tracy as a bit of an “entitled snob”. Ronnie claimed Monica had said the same and thanked him for the validation.

At one of the nurse’s hubs, Elizabeth gave Molly the records the DA’s office requested. They talked about not hearing from Ric. As they were talking, Elizabeth got a call from Alexis. When she answered the call, Ava had just thrown a cup of stinging liquid in Ric’s face, so she heard Ric yell out before Alexis had time to hang up. Alexis immediately texted to say she had called her by accident. Elizabeth told Molly that she swore she heard Ric’s voice. Later, Elizabeth left a voicemail for Ric.

Tracy was in the Quartermaine crypt “talking to Monica” about Ronnie being a mess to clean up as Michael arrived. Michael asked if there was anything he could do to help, but Tracy said he couldn’t even take care of himself in reference to being a shooting suspect.

When Michael reminded Tracy that he had an alibi, she said he had a call girl, who was a weak alibi and had a very unsavory history with the victim. She knew he was lying and said she could place him in front of Drew’s house at the time of the shooting. Michael admitted to going over to Drew’s, but said he didn’t shoot him. He’d admitted to planning to confront him, but had realized there was no point.

Michael swore to Tracy that he never so much as went into Drew’s house. Tracy said he just proved he was just as much a Quartermaine as the rest of them because she couldn’t tell if he was lying or not. Ultimately, she didn’t care whether or not he shot Drew, but only cared that Michael stayed a free man.

Michael didn’t understand Tracy’s sudden drive to protect him. She felt she owed Monica and considered it her duty to protect him for Monica's sake. Michael thanked her for taking care of the family and for everything she did for Monica. She said the house had been Monica’s, but it had also always been her home. As the house was soon going to become Michael’s, she asked if she could continue to live there. He, of course, agreed.

Anna called Carly to her PCPD office for some follow-up questions about the night of the shooting. When Anna said she wanted to talk about Michael, Carly reminded her that he had an alibi. Anna said she wanted to verify Michael’s movements from that evening, especially the ones that intersected with Carly’s.

Anna asked about the phone conversation Carly had with Michael that night. Carly said she was probably just telling him about her day, but wasn’t able to actually recall what they talked about.

Switching tactics, Anna led Carly into talking about how her relationship with Monica changed over the years. Carly said she and Monica accepted that they had Jason, Michael, Amelia, and Wylie in common, which was enough for them to coexist peacefully. Anna then asked if that meant she was welcome on the Quartermaine estate.

Carly, not knowing that Anna was trying to figure out if she potentially had access to Edward’s cache of weapons, said she was absolutely welcome at the Quartermaines because her grandchildren lived there. By the end, Carly was more suspicious of Anna’s tactics and motives. She was adamant in maintaining Michael’s innocence, but Anna said she had to continue investigating all of the suspects.

Later, Molly met with Anna to discuss Drew’s shooting. Anna informed her about the ballistics report, which showed the two bullets found in Drew matched a gun from Edward Quartermaine’s collection. Anna was zeroing in on Carly and Michael’s motives and weak alibis. Molly told her about Jacinda being at the Quartermaines when she and Kristina visited Michael. She said she didn’t have proof but felt Michael was shoring up his alibi.

They discussed Michael’s means, motive, and opportunity, which they felt put him at the top of the suspect list right next to Carly. Anna said a warrant to get the gun was in progress, and, if forensics could tie the gun to Michael or Carly, it would be enough for an arrest.

From the hospital, Sonny brought Ronnie to Bobbie’s. Ronnie, who claimed to have waited tables since she was in junior high, was impressed with Bobbie’s. They shared a meal and more conversation. She felt Sonny had been so kind and welcoming to her and questioned why he and Monica wouldn’t have gotten along. Sonny said Monica had her reasons.

Ronnie admitted to regretting the time she didn’t have with Monica. Sonny understood and shared the regret he’d felt over the years of estrangement he’d had from his father. Ronnie said that, before Monica died, she had been working up the nerve to meet her in person and had almost brought it up in her last couple of letters, but didn’t. Sonny shared that Michael had told him that Monica was happy with her life, and she passed away peacefully, which seemed to bring comfort to Ronnie. Later, in her hotel room, Ronnie received a call inviting her to the reading of Monica’s will.

After she left the PCPD, Carly met Sonny at Bobbie’s. She was worried that the PCPD saw Michael as their prime suspect in Drew’s shooting. It had become clear to Carly that Anna was trying to get her to say something incriminating about Michael, so she regretted not calling Diane. She was worried because she felt like she had given something away. Sonny told Carly she could be a suspect as well. She said being with Jack was her alibi, but Sonny said he didn’t buy it, which meant Anna wouldn’t either.
