Jason tells Tracy about Monica’s passing

Watching Jason slowly come off the stairs and into the foyer with his head down, we knew the inevitable moment of losing Monica Quartermaine had finally come to pass. Seeing the tears start to well in Jason’s red-tinged eyes as he told Tracy that Monica was already gone was a reverently poignant way to begin the long goodbye to this legendary character.

SCENES

Liesl & Britt

THIS.WAS.BRUTAL…After Liesl found out Britt was a part of faking her own death, her anger quickly overshadowed the joy of knowing her Britta was alive. Showing her not-so-kind and not-so-gentle side, Liesl unleashed her fury upon her daughter for putting her through one of the worst pains a mother could go through. Never one to back down, Britt responded in kind by taking Liesl to task for the way she raised her. Who knows how long it will take these two to reconcile? Maybe they’ll stick them in a house together and create an even more twisted version of Grey Gardens.

Kathleen Gati and Kelly Thiebaud brought an intensity to the scenes that made their characters' hurt, anger, and frustrating obstinacy jump off the screen!

Nina & Willow

THIS.WAS.SAVAGE…Nina has been on a bit of a roll lately. She’s become a bit more introspective, calmer, and, dare I say, has even been the voice of reason in a couple of instances. Finally, Willow pushed Nina too far, prompting her to let her daughter know exactly how she felt about her continued irrational behavior. Maybe they could move in with Liesl & Britt and be a part of the twisted version of Grey Gardens as well. Could be fun.

I would love to know how many viewers were cheering Nina on as she finally let loose on Willow. Cynthia Watros and Katelyn MacMullen's performances were pitch-perfect and actually left me looking forward to their next epic battle of words.

Jason & Tracy mourn Monica.

This was such an interesting way to approach the death of a character. Showing the harsh details like the DNR, funeral paperwork, paramedics, and the sheriff gave a reality to the scenes that was painful to watch. The somber stillness that permeated throughout each scene allowed the weight of Jason and Tracy’s loss to be felt and shared by the viewer.

Steve Burton and Jane Elliot, Soap Central’s General Hospital Performers of the Week, did such a beautiful job in all of their scenes. You could feel the love and reverence they had for Leslie Charleson and her iconic character.

NOTABLES

Martin plopping himself down on Drew’s hospital bed, causing Drew to wince in pain, made me chuckle.

Cody with Outback was unbelievably adorable. I think Charlotte and Rocco should let Outback stay with Cody so she can be free to run around the Q Estate. Can you imagine Outback getting into the main house and driving Tracy crazy?!

So happy to see Dr. Terry Randolph! Her facial expressions when Britt came into the office and wanted her job back were hysterical. I love the subtle sense of humor Cassandra James always brings to the role and really hope they start bringing her back more often.

Kudos to Danny for confronting Drew!

That was a sweet moment to have for Gio and Emma’s first kiss.

“I am sorry. Sorry that I wasted a second of my time grieving for you!” — Liesl to Britt

“I am the monster you raised me to be.” — Britt to Liesl

Lucas & Ava:

“No bullets. No bloodshed. What’s going on?” — Lucas questioning Ava as to why she and Kristina were speaking civilly to each other at Ava’s apartment

“A dead woman walked into the ER.” — Lucas, sounding like he was at the start of a joke, but was actually leading up to telling Ava that Britt was alive

“Knowing Britt’s family tree, I’d probably be more surprised if she hadn’t [turned up alive].”

“So why does her resurrection interest you so much?” — Ava responding to Lucas telling her that Britt was alive

Kristina & Cody:

“Some scam artist you turned out to be.” — Kristina's response to Cody blowing their seduction plan by telling Molly and Ava the truth

Cody: “You’re giving me a bonus?” Kristina: “For screwing up?”

Kristina: “Is she mad at you?” Cody: “No. No. She was very cordial.” Kristina: “Ooh, Cordial Molly is the worst.”

Nina & Willow:

Willow: “You hate that you’re not in charge of my life.” Nina: “Neither are you, Willow! Wake up!”

“You could find a freezer full of heads in the basement, and you’d still go on about what a good man Drew is.” — Nina to Willow

Willow: “I have a mind of my own.” Nina: “When is the last time you used it? I mean, really used it?”

Felicia’s Wynna Top in Navy by Rails Love this color on Felicia/Kristina Wagner.

Emma’s Washed Crew Neck Short Puff Sleeve Fleece Sweatshirt by ExpressCute; Little puffed sleeves are growing on me.

Molly’s Shirred-Puff Sleeve Top in Satin in Mossy Umber by Madewell — I’m not in love with this, but I do love the color and have a feeling this would be cuter in person.

Carly’s Christy Cami by Zadig & Voltaire and Faux Double-Breasted Scrunch Sleeve Blazer by Bar III I like that they mixed the light cami with the thicker jacket. Though I think I would have liked it better if one of them were a different color.

Josslyn’s Orange Tie-Dye Upon Horizon Adjustable-Loop Hipster Bikini by La Blanca & White Augustine Cover-up Dress by Ramy Brook Super cute

Nina’s penthouse must have had truth serum emanating from the air vents, because we had two epic mother-daughter arguments where they relentlessly dropped vicious truth bombs on each other.

Does Dante have sweat glands? He ran 8 miles in a sweatshirt and wasn’t even glistening.

I wish I understood where they were going with Willow.
