Erika Slezak, beloved as One Life to Live's Viki Lord Buchanan, has joined the cast of General Hospital in a mystery role. The actress coming to Port Charles reunites her with GH showrunner Frank Valentini, who was the top exec at OLTL. How long will she be sticking around in Port Charles?

Slezak spoke with TV Guide Magazine, cover dated September 29, 2025, about her GH experience. She explains that she wasn't planning on a return to soaps, but when Valentini called, she decided to hear what he had to say.
The actress says that the unnamed role is completely different from what she played on OLTL. "I was always Viki, confident and strong," she said. "This is a totally different character."
Slezak regards the GH role she's playing as an exciting and wonderful change. The six-time Daytime Emmy-winner says that Jane Elliot (Tracy) made her feel right at home. Slezak's visit to Port Charles reunites her with one of Viki's sons, Joey, who was played by Chris McKenna. Today, McKenna plays GH's Jack.
Slezak was thrilled to be reunited with McKenna, marveling that he's all grown up with a family of his own.

Believe it or not, Slezak was the third actress to take on the part of Viki on OLTL. Actress Gillian Spencer (ex-Daisy, All My Children) originated the role in 1968 and played the part until 1971. Then, Joanne Dorian played the part briefly in 1971 until Slezak assumed the role later that year.
Slezak stayed at OLTL until its finale in January 2012. She took part in the show's brief online renewal in 2014. Having been trained at the Royal Academy in England, Slezak did not see soaps in her future. In fact, when she landed the role of Viki, she had never been on television!
The actress says that she had a great time visiting ABC's sole surviving daytime serial. Alas, she has no plans to make her stay permanent. "This was very nice, but I'm happy to be going back to my normal life," she said.
