Watch General Hospital's Nancy Lee Grahn celebrate 30 years as Alexis in a big way

On September 26, 1996, Nancy Lee Grahn made her General Hospital debut as no-nonsense legal eagle Alexis Davis, who was said to be a distant cousin of the Cassadine clan. Grahn celebrated her 30th anniversary as part of the GH family in her own unique way.

Nancy Lee Grahn's successful escalator ascent

The mall escalator didn't stop for Nancy Lee Grahn when she decided to mark 30 years as Alexis Davis, aka Natasha Cassadine. Grahn posted a social media video of herself riding up the escalator with two gold Mylar balloons, announcing her 30 times around the sun with General Hospital.

"Heading into my 30th year on beloved @generalhospital today and enjoying this amazing ride. 😘 Sending love and thanks to the beautiful #GH audience for taking the ride with me," Grahn wrote on Instagram.

Grahn also hinted that her choice to ascend a working escalator may have stemmed from an escalator failure earlier in the week involving a world leader. Co-star Laura Wright (Carly Spencer) laughed at the video in the comments, with Grahn replying, "You got the escalator thing lol. Some didn't."

Numerous other names from the GH and soap world offered their congratulations, including Lisa LoCicero (Olivia Quartermaine), Kimberly McCullough (ex-Robin Scorpio-Drake), Cameron Mathison (Drew Cain), Kristen Vaganos (Molly Lansing-Davis), Kate Mansi (Kristina Corinthos-Davis), Jacqueline Grace Lopez (ex-Allison 'Blaze' Ramirez), Rebecca Budig (ex-Hayden Barnes, GH; Taylor Hayes, The Bold and the Beautiful), Don Diamont (Bill Spencer, B&B), and Beyond the Gates showrunner Michele Val Jean.

As Grahn marks three decades on GH, the lawyer who turned out to be Mikkos Cassadine's daughter and not his niece, finds herself in a bit of a pickle as the hostage situation in her basement takes a turn.

Alexis has been holding Ric captive down there for weeks, intending to release him after 30 days. Ric's time might be up, but is he about to turn the tables on Alexis, Kristina, and Ava (Maura West), who have all been a party to keeping him chained to a gurney with a ball gag in his mouth?

Grahn has also had a big past year on GH as Alexis has mourned the loss of her firstborn daughter, Sam (Kelly Monaco), while navigating the chaos constantly caused by her second-born daughter, Kristina.
