Fans of Grammy Award winner Maren Morris and Grammy Award nominee Kelsea Ballerini were surprised when the two musicians teamed up weeks ago for a couple of TikTok videos. The clips raised speculations that the two artists were working on a new project together.

Now weeks after the rumour mills began to spin, Kelsea Ballerini addressed the speculations during an exclusive interview with People magazine. In an exclusive story published on July 28, 2025, Kelsea admits that she and Morris were indeed making music together.

“It was me, her, and Alysa Vanderheym, and we wrote and went to dinners. It was not work. It was much more play than work,” the American Country Pop singer said.

She also said that her reunion with Morris was an opportunity for them to catch up and reconnect.

“Maren and I haven't had the chance to catch up in years, and we've both had so much life that's happened,” the Patterns hitmaker said.
“We've recently just reconnected, and I've always really looked up to her songwriting and her musicality, and we've never written together. So I was like, 'Come on down to Charleston. Let's write.”

While talking to People, Kelsea Ballerini also spoke about her series of shows happening in the UK, revealing that aside from that project, she wasn't really working on anything else.

“I wish I could sit here and tell you I had a bunch up my sleeve. I really don't for the first time in a long time, and I'm learning to be comfortable with that,” the 37-year-old said.
