The Kelly Clarkson Show first began airing in September 2019. Today it boasts over 1000 episodes and 22 Emmys throughout its run and sources have revealed that its host is planning to make changes to her demanding work schedule.
Kelly Clarkson might start working in shifts once her existing contract for her hit eponymous daytime show expires. According to PEOPLE, a source close to the "Stronger" hitmaker revealed that she wanted to focus on having more time with her kids, Remington Alexander and River Rose, following her divorce from their dad, Brandon Blackstock, in June 2020.
The source further stated that Clarkson, 43, is considering having a shift structure created for the show:
"She very much loves music, though, and would love to create new music. Daytime TV is still demanding. She's thinking that she might need a shift next year when her contract is up. She still has time to figure out what's best for her career and family. She was never one to rush into things."
Kelly Clarkson set to begin her Studio Sessions residency in Las Vegas
The three-time Grammy Award winner will start her Las Vegas residency on July 11, 2025, after cancelling the first two shows due to laryngitis. A source close to the singer also revealed to PEOPLE that the decision to cancel the shows upset Kelly Clarkson because she didn’t want to. However, she was compelled to do so in order to protect her vocal cords. The source added:
“She was devastated and felt terrible for fans that had travelled to see her. She’s been very excited about the Las Vegas residency and connecting with her fans.”
The singer previously scheduled July 4, 2025, as the opening date of her Studio Sessions residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Shortly before her performance, Kelly Clarkson shared an Instagram update that she wouldn’t perform on July 4 and 5 because preparations and rehearsals had strained her voice.
She added that she was taking the weekend and the week after off to get some rest and come back reinvigorated to perform:
"The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice. I want the shows to be perfect for y'all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve. The show is truly incredible. The musicians and singers are outstanding, and I want us all to start out strong. I can't wait to be back next weekend and show y'all what we've been working on."
The residency is scheduled to conclude in November 2025 with a total of 18 shows lined up. The Las Vegas residency follows her Chemistry: An Intimate Evening with Kelly Clarkson residency at the Bakkt Theatre from 2023 to 2024.
