Joe Jonas took a lighthearted approach to his backstage moment that recently caught the internet's attention.
During the Jonas Brothers' Los Angeles concert on Saturday night, the 36-year-old singer was seen stepping aside, checking his reflection, and cleaning his nose with a cloth. The moment was filmed by a fan and uploaded to TikTok, immediately garnering attention from social media users.
Several versions of the clip also show the Cake by the Ocean hitmaker using his finger to clean his nose before quickly wiping with a fabric.
Following the buzz across platforms, Joe Jonas finally took the matter into his own hands and entered the conversation under the TikTok video. He made a tongue-in-cheek comment:
"Lol you never had a booger?"
The remark, however, has since been deleted.
The moment has been the source of amusement to many online users, while some speculated that the pop star was using dr*gs.
One X (formerly Twitter) user alleged:
"Joe Jonas was caught in a c*caine-style nose clean before stepping on stage"
Social media erupted with various comments, with many fans weighing in on the matter.
"wait the internet is hating on joe jonas because he was caught blowing his nose backstage??? where do people find the time in the day for this nonsense???" one wrote on X.
"can yall just let joe jonas pick his nose in peace da*n????" another said.
Joe Jonas on dr*g use rumors: "It's all false, every piece of it"
It's not the first time Joe Jonas has been accused of using dr*gs. Back in 2013, the Jonas Brothers were navigating a "creative rift," prompting the trio to cancel their tour.
However, word had it that Joe, who was 24 then, was the cause of the discord because he was on dr*gs.
Speaking to ABC News, the DNCE frontman addressed the chatter, saying:
"Usually right away, I'll kill a rumor. But because we were kind of figuring out what was going on with us as brothers first, we kept kind of mum about the whole drug thing."
Unfortunately, that same month, the brothers decided to break up, a decision that ultimately pushed Joe to address the rumors once and for all.
"Never had a problem with drugs and never done drugs. I'm good. ... Happy and healthy."
At the time, the middle Jonas brother thought the situation was "humorous," until rumors swirled that he was doing hero*n, and that his then sweetheart Blanda Eggenschwiler was the one supplying him.
"When it affects the people around you and they're pointing at family members [saying], 'How can they be dealing with this for so long?' and my girl, that's the stuff that gets to you."
He went on, telling the outlet:
"It's all false, every piece of it. Random people [were] coming up to me on the street, hugging me, being like, 'Are you OK?' I'm like, 'Do you know something I don't?!'"
Despite the split, Joe mentioned that his brothers, Kevin and Nick, have been supportive.
"We're always protective of each other. I think the craziest thing is getting texts from friends and stuff because I was so quiet about it."
