Liam Gallagher had a few choice words for the City of Edinburgh council as Oasis kicked off their highly anticipated run of Scottish shows at Murrayfield Stadium.

During Friday’s opening night in front of roughly 70,000 fans, the frontman called the local authority “a bunch of snakes,” adding that the band was “still waiting for our apology” over a safety report that described Oasis' fans as “rowdy,” "intoxicated," and “middle-aged men."

“What about Edinburgh council, the f***ing slags. The amount of money we’re going to bring in, 1 billion pound we’re gonna bring in at this city over the next 3 days, 1 f***ing billion pound which you’ll probably see fuck all of."

Liam Gallagher continued, earning cheers from the crowd:

"Because they’ll bring it in and split it between their posh, ugly f***ing mates. Anyways, we’re still waiting for that f***ing apology.”

Gallagher went on to take a playful swipe at the city’s August festivals, calling them a haven for “people who swallow swords” and do “poor magic tricks.”

Following Liam Gallagher's tirades, social media quickly lit up with various reactions from fans.

"This attitude is why I fell in love with this band from day 1. Our band for the people!" said an X (Twitter) user.
"Love this! I was never the biggest Oasis fan, but this is as modern punk rock as it gets from a band making a ton of well deserved $$$-TOPS! Also, they sound as great for any band this far out of inception - I like them More now than back in the day . They sound fantastic ! Saving music IMO," another wrote.
"Love how you can see @NoelGallagher laughing his arse off. @oasis are so fucking back it’s making me cry a lot of tears of happiness," one commented.

"Your attitude f***ing stinks": Liam Gallagher slams Edinburgh council for comments on Oasis fans

Liam Gallagher's crash-out comes months after the Edinburgh council officials and event partners discussed concerns about Oasis audiences, even noting that “middle-aged men” in the crowd “take up more room” than Taylor Swift fans.

At the time, the frontman took to X to roast the council, writing:

"To the Edinburgh council I’ve heard what you said about OASIS fans and quite frankly your attitude f***ing stinks I’d leave town that day if I was any of you lot."

He said in a follow-up post:

"I’d love to see a picture of all the people on the Edinburgh council bet there’s some real STUNING individuals."

Friday’s concert marked Liam and Noel Gallagher’s first Scottish performance together since 2009. The night closed with Don’t Look Back In Anger, Wonderwall, and a firework-filled Champagne Supernova.

Meanwhile, Oasis will play two more nights at the stadium — Saturday and Tuesday.
