Liam Gallagher didn’t hold back in anger when addressing the viral “kiss cam” moment that’s taken over the internet.
During Oasis’ sixth and final night at Manchester’s Heaton Park on July 20, the frontman took a moment before performing “Slide Away” to tease the now-infamous Coldplay incident in San Francisco, where two concertgoers appeared uncomfortable when caught cuddling on the big screen.
The pair were later identified as co-workers, with fallout culminating in the resignation of one.
With a smirk, Liam Gallagher told the crowd:
“Do we have any love birds in the house? Don’t worry, we won’t have none of that Coldplay snidey f***ing camera s*** here.”
The comment earned loud cheers. Gallagher kept going, adding with his signature humor:
“Doesn’t matter to us who you’re f***ing, mingling with, tingling with, fingering with… it’s none of our f***ing business. This one’s for the love birds anyway.”
Fans react to Oasis’ Liam Gallagher’s subtle jab at Coldplay’s viral jumbotron scandal
Following Gallagher’s comment, social media lit up with various reactions at a supersonic speed.
“Liam Gallagher stays being the patron saint of rock & roll chaos. Privacy at a concert? What a concept,” @Abhinav05655123 said.
“It was soooo funny! I fully expected to see a video and hear people talking about it, but it was silence. He was really on one Saturday lmao,” @ShivRoytheThird commented.
“Liam Gallagher returned because of what I've been saying for months now: it's never been a better time to be a hater and Liam is one of the greats. Never give up on being a hater because we are BACK baby,” @CMReischman wrote.
“HAHAHAHAHAHA their most reasonable way of saying I don’t give a damn what they do,” @JAREDpetrikowsk added.
From “geography teacher” to “f***ing really good”: Liam Gallagher’s love-hate with Coldplay
Liam Gallagher’s swipe during Oasis’ concert comes in light of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin’s own comments during the original moment, when he joked from stage:
“Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
The couple was later identified as Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot, both executives at the data software company Astronomer. Byron, the company’s CEO at the time, has since stepped down from his role.
Chris Martin’s lighthearted crowd interactions, often accompanied by spontaneous songs about audience members, have remained a hallmark of their Music of the Spheres world tour.
At a follow-up show in Madison, Wisconsin, Chris Martin gave a cheeky heads-up before the camera segment:
“So please, if you haven’t done your makeup, do your makeup now.”
Gallagher, never one to resist a jab, has taken shots at Coldplay before. Once, he called Chris Martin a “geography teacher” and described Coldplay as “a bunch of students.”
Still, the pair shared the stage in 2017 at the One Love Manchester benefit, where Gallagher famously retracted his barbs with:
“I take back everything I’ve ever said about you… You sound f***ing really good.”
Oasis is currently on their much-hyped Live ‘25 reunion tour, with their next stop at Wembley Stadium on July 25, followed by dates in Edinburgh and Dublin.
Fans hoping for Gallagher’s signature commentary between songs (as well as no surprise jumbotron cameos) are more than likely to leave fans in supernova-tier amusement.
