After abruptly postponing the kickoff of her Las Vegas residency, Kelly Clarkson has apologised directly to fans, addressing the sudden change and sharing her gratitude for their support.
The 43-year-old singer was originally scheduled to launch Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions – The Las Vegas Residency at Caesars Palace on July 4. However, the opening shows were delayed just hours before curtain time, leaving many ticket holders in limbo.
In a new video shared on July 11, Kelly Clarkson apologized during her first performance since the delay.
“It took me a minute. I’m so sorry. I know some of y’all had tickets for last weekend’s shows. I’m so sorry. We can’t help our bodies sometimes. You know, we get sick, and that happens.”
She continued with appreciation for the fans who still made it to the venue:
“But thank y’all for showing up. We are so excited. This is my favorite residency – my favorite show I’ve ever put together, because I love being in the studio. That’s where this whole idea came from.”
On July 4, hours before the scheduled performance, Kelly Clarkson took to Instagram to explain the reasoning behind the delay.
“We have been working 24/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans. The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice. I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage.
She went on:
“So I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve.”
The Grammy winner emphasized that protecting her voice is a priority.
“I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve.”
The 18-show residency is scheduled to run through November 15.
Kelly Clarkson’s team “in complete shock” as her Vegas show abruptly canceled, source claims
Meanwhile, a report from The Sun cited an insider who claimed Kelly Clarkson’s team was caught off guard by the cancellation.
“Everyone working behind the scenes was in complete shock. They woke up Friday expecting a normal day of work and began their day like always.”
According to the insider, crew members were only informed after they had already begun setting up.
“The crew was setting up like normal and bam, it hit. Fans crying about wasting thousands of dollars, fans who flew from outside of the country to see Kelly for the first time.”
They also alleged the cancellation had a ripple effect behind the scenes.
“She doesn’t realize the depth of how much she let people down and most of them were crying they can’t afford to come back another weekend.”
Kelly Clarkson has yet to comment on the backstage reports. For now, she’s back onstage, kicking off her residency with a mix of apology and excitement for what’s to come.
