Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour concert at Soldier Field in Chicago met with a delay due to weather conditions. However, as per the latest updates, the singer took to the stage at 10:15 p.m., after a delay of over two hours due to rain.
The storms followed by rains flooded the area, and floor-level seating was unavailable until at least 9:45 p.m. Reports mention that the attendees were allowed to be seated after 9:15 p.m. The concertgoers had to take shelter in the covered concourse areas.
Officials shared an update about the delay on the Cowboy Carter tour’s Instagram page. They wrote:
“Due to weather in the area, the COWBOY CARTER TOUR show at Soldier Field tonight will not begin before 9 pm. For updates check: @soldierfield.”
There was heavy rain with flashes of lightning. A message was also displayed on the screen at the venue, which read:
“Thank you for your patience during this time. We are setting the show and getting the floor ready to receive guests. Looking forward to a great show.”
Soldier Field’s Instagram page also mentioned that the situation was being monitored. According to NBC News, the possible tornadoes created havoc by uprooting trees and disrupting power lines. However, no deaths were reported. Places like Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan faced the brunt of the severe weather conditions.
Meanwhile, fans shared videos from the concert on social media platforms. One X user (@MrErnestOwens) posted a video, writing:
“Beyoncé is from another planet. It's past midnight in Chicago and she's still killing it at Soldier Field! #CowboyCarterTour.”
Fans at Soldier Field were prepared for the weather conditions, keeping in mind Beyoncé’s 2023 concert
CBS Chicago posted live updates and fan reactions from the concert attendees at Soldier Field. Many were unaware of the delay and showed up soon after the gates opened. One attendee told the reporter:
“I wish I knew earlier but it is Beyoncé.”
Some even prepared for severe weather conditions, as rain gear became an important accessory for the concert. Another attendee said:
“I have got a poncho. I have got a plastic bag. I will put my hair inside and hopefully we will be okay.”
This wasn’t the first time there was a delay at Beyoncé's concert. In 2023, during her Renaissance World Tour, the singer began performing almost an hour later than the scheduled time due to rain. Another fan, reflecting on that day, said:
“When she was here for the Renaissance and it rained on us, so we prepared this time.”
With the intensity of the winds, fans had a problem holding on to their hats. One person told Fox 32 Chicago:
“My hat just blew away. It was crazy but I got it.”
Two other attendees said:
“We have been looking at the weather all day so hopefully nothing crazy happens. I don’t think I have ever looked at the weather this much in my life.”
CBS also mentioned that several tickets throughout the day went over $90, a slight dip from $140, considering the lowest pricing. Meanwhile, officials at Soldier Field emphasized that their main goal was to ensure the safety of everyone attending.
They explained that they had plenty of experience managing dangerous weather during major events and were fully prepared to put their severe weather plans into action if needed. According to Fox 32 Chicago, Beyoncé's concert-goers were not allowed to bring umbrellas to the venue.
