Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train” and “Mama, I’m Coming Home” enter Hot 100 for the first time after his death

Rock and Heavy Metal legend, Ozzy Osbourne, passed away on July 22, 2025, at age 76 after battling Parkinson’s disease. His family announced his death.

“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family's privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis.”

After the passing of the Prince of Darkness, Billboard reported a significant increase in streams of his discography. According to the music news outlet, two of the late rockstar's songs have made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne made it onto the Aug. 2-dated Hot 100 chart at number 46 after garnering over nine million U.S streams, 2.4 million radio audience impressions, and 11,000 downloads. Crazy Train entered the chart for the first time ever.

The second song, “Mama, I’m Coming Home”, made a comeback on the Hot 100 chart. The song last appeared on the chart 33 years ago, ranking number 28 in 1992. Mama, I'm Coming Home returned to the chart after accumulating 8.7 million streams, 2.1 million audience impressions, and 15,000 paid downloads.

Crazy Train is the first-ever solo single that the music legend Ozzy Osbourne released after leaving Black Sabbath. The song was released in 1980 in the UK and 1981 in the US.

Crazy Train has been certified four times platinum by the RIAA and once platinum by the BPI. The song is centred on the theme of freedom and self-discovery. The second verse reads:

“I've listened to preachers, I've listened to fools/ I've watched all the dropouts, who make their own rules/ One person conditioned to rule and control/ The media sells it and you live the role.”

Mama, I’m Coming Home is a single from Ozzy Osbourne’s sixth studio album, No More Tears. It was released on November 18, 1991, in the UK and in February 1992 in the US. In a review by AllMusic’s Stephen Thomas Erlewine, the song is described as a very, very good hard rock ballad and one of his finest singles."

Mama, I’m coming Home is based on the themes of acceptance and love. The chorus reads:

“I've seen your face a hundred times/ Every day we've been apart/ I don't care about the sunshine, yeah/ 'Cause Mama, Mama, I'm coming home/ I'm coming home.”

Crazy Train and Mama, I'm Coming Home are the number two and number one on the all-genre Digital Song Sales chart.
