Metallica is all set to expand its reach with satellite radio. Starting Friday, August 29, 2025, SiriusXM will debut Maximum Metallica. It will be a dedicated 24/7 music channel broadcasting on Channel 42 and the SiriusXM app.

The announcement came from drummer Lars Ulrich, who revealed the news during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

Moreover, to officially kick off the channel's launch, Metallica will perform an intimate one-night-only concert at the Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, New York, on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Notably, the Talkhouse is a far cry from the stadiums Metallica usually performs in, as it has only a 250-person capacity.

SiriusXM took to its official Instagram handle to announce Maximum Metallica. The post read:

"Ride the lightning with Metallica LIVE ⚡at Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, NY on August 28th! SiriusXM is giving YOU the chance to win a VIP trip to see @metallica power up the Hamptons for an exclusive concert driven by @Hertz! Plus, starting August 29th, tune into Maximum Metallica, an exclusive SiriusXM channel. Click the link in bio to learn more."

The recorded performance of Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, New York, will premiere on September 1, 12 PM ET, Monday, on the channel, and reruns will air throughout the week on air on Maximum Metallica (Ch. 42). It will also be available on the SiriusXM app. In addition, the recording of the full concert will also be rebroadcast on the Howard Stern SiriusXM channel called Howard 101 on September 5th (Friday) at 7 pm ET and PT.

The new SiriusXM channel will feature a wide-ranging archive of the band's music. That reportedly includes everything from their biggest hits and underground cuts to live performances and rarities. Additionally, the tracks will be curated by the band members themselves.

  • Rare recordings
  • Behind-the-scenes stories
  • Exclusive interviews
  • Surprises and special content handpicked by James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujillo, and Lars Ulrich.

The upcoming station will become part of SiriusXM's growing lineup of artist-branded channels. It joins names like Bruce Springsteen, The Beatles, Pearl Jam, and U2.

Launch details:

  • Date and Time: Friday, August 29, 2025, at 12 PM ET
