English musician and songwriter Morrissey, who is mainly known as the former frontman of The Smiths, has recently called off two shows in Mexico, due to "extreme exhaustion." The cancellations affected planned performances in Mexico City and Guadalajara.

The news came through a statement released by concert promoter OCESA. Fans were informed that refunds would be processed automatically for online purchases. On the other hand, those who bought tickets in person could collect their money from November 7, 2025.

The cancellation announcement has created curiosity about Morrissey's current financial standing. According to Celebrity Net Worth, the singer has an estimated net worth of $50 million as of 2025.

More on Morrissey's fortune

Morrissey's net worth stands at $50 million. This figure is accumulated from his four-decade career as a musician, lyricist, and performer. Besides album sales, Morrissey's earnings also come from touring, publishing royalties, and book sales.

His 2013 memoir Autobiography became a bestseller upon release. Notably, he has been reportedly seeing a lack of steady support from record labels in recent years, reports suggest. However, he has a notable global fan base. He is also touring relatively consistently.

In 1982, Morrissey and Marr formed The Smiths. They were joined by bassist Andy Rourke and drummer Mike Joyce. The band gained attention with their 1984 debut album, The Smiths, which climbed to number two on the UK Albums Chart. Other albums like Meat Is Murder, The Queen Is Dead, and Strangeways, Here We Come were also received well by fans and enthusiasts.

Morrissey's official statement on Mexico shows cancellation

Via an official social media post, the tour promoters announced:

"We are informing the public in Mexico City and Guadalajara that, due to the artist's extreme exhaustion, Morrissey's concerts scheduled for October 31st at the Palacio de los Deportes and November 4th at the Auditorio Telmex have been cancelled."

It is worth noting that in an old official statement on a previous Stockholm show cancellation, the singer stated:

"The pain at not reaching Stockholm this week is horrific for the band and crew. I know it’s impossible for people to understand, but we dream of Stockholm, Reykjavik, Trondheim, Helsinki, Aarhus … but there is no financial support from imaginary record labels to get us to such places. In the last seven days we have travelled into six countries, and we are travel-weary beyond belief. We can barely see."

It continued:

"We pray to God that someone, somewhere can help us reach Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Denmark … where we have thousands upon thousands of friends, yet absolutely zero music industry support. No label will release our music, no radio will play our music … and yet our ticket sales are sensational. What does this tell us about the state of Art in 2025?"

Despite the cancellations, Morrissey's tour is set to continue across Latin America, Europe, and the U.S. Performances are scheduled through early 2026. The upcoming dates and venues are as follows:
