EMMY ROUNDUP

Like many of the other soaps this year, One Life to Live was completely shut out of the acting categories at this year's Emmys. For fans it meant that the two-hour NBC telecast would feature none of their favorite performers awaiting the opening on the infamous Emmy envelopes.

Indeed One Life to Live stars were indeed a rare find at this year's Daytime Emmys. However, there were at least three stars spotted in attendance. Erika Slezak (Viki) and Roger Howarth (Todd) were on hand to present the Lead Actor Emmy. Catherine Hickland (Lindsay), meanwhile, was on hand to root for her real-life husband, All My Children's Michael E Knight (Tad), a winner in the Supporting Actor category.

Many fans have questioned how Erika Slezak could have been overlooked for an Emmy nomination because of her superb work over the last year. Actually, she wasn't overlooked. Slezak, a five-time winner in the Lead Actress category, has asked that her name not be included on the Emmy ballot. In an odd bit of Emmy greatness, Slezak presented All My Children's David Canary (Adam and Stuart) with his record-breaking fifth Lead Actor crown.

From a technical standpoint, things could not have been better for One Life to Live. One Life to Live was honored with nominations in nearly every one of the Creative Crafts categories, awards that honor technical excellence. Out of those seven nominations came two wins. The wins came for Technical Direction/Electronic Camera/Video Control and Live & Direct to Tape Sound Mixing.

In some interesting Emmy news, One Life to Live has never won the Outstanding Drama Series category. The show has won the Writing Team trophy once, in 1993-1994. The program's last win in the Lead Actor category came with Robert S Wood's (Bo) win in 1983.

BEHIND THE SCENES

One Life to Live was very much talked about behind the scenes at this year's Emmys. Apparently, the show's recent revolving door hasn't just intrigued the show's fans - it's got the attention of the media as well!

According to reliable sources, John Bolger (John) is leaving the show. As previously mentioned, Jason-Shane Scott (Will) will be departing. Scott had told a fan gathering that he would not be remaining with the program. No final airdates have been sent and an ABC spokesperson at the awards declined comment.

Chatter that Sarah Buxton (ex-Morgan, The Bold and the Beautiful) would be joining the One Life to Live cast appears unfounded at this time.

A reporter told Soap Opera Central that there are rumors that Linda Dano will soon be released from One Life to Live. Apparently with all of her storylines resolved, Robin Christopher's (Skye) move to General Hospital and the upcoming departure of John Bolger, Linda's Rae will have little to do.
