Jennifer Lopez has stepped forward to defend Bad Bunny amid the controversy regarding his upcoming Super Bowl LX Halftime Show performance. Lopez co-headlined the 2020 Super Bowl alongside Shakira. She appeared on the Today Show on October 6, 2025.

Jennifer Lopez responded to the backlash against the Puerto Rican star, calling him "one of the top artists in the world right now." Her remarks came as notable political figures and commentators debated Bad Bunny's suitability for the stage. Talking about Bad Bunny, Lopez mentioned,

"I think he is about to blow everybody’s mind. It's an introduction to some people. He is one of the top artists in the world right now, probably the top. It could be a lot of different people. That’s the thing. I am super excited for people to see him. I think they will be pleasantly surprised because his music transcends language. It's amazing what he has done."

Jennifer Lopez also added:

"He has done something that a lot of people have never done in their life. I'm so excited for him. I was excited when he performed with us at the Super Bowl and I’m excited to see what he does. He puts on a great show. Hesis an amazing entertainer."

Fans reacted to Jennifer Lopez's statement about Bad Bunny, saying:

"that's an awesome display of peer support, JLo 👊"

Internet reactions to Jennifer Lopez defending Bad Bunny amid Super Bowl controversy

Pop Crave took to its official X (formerly Twitter) page to share a clip of Jennifer Lopez' interview, captioning:

"Jennifer Lopez defends Bad Bunny on the Today Show amid controversy surrounding his selection as #SuperBowl headliner: “His music transcends language.”"

Netizens were notably quick to weigh in on the comment section of the X post as they penned their thoughts on Jennifer Lopez's words. Below are some of their remarks:

"I condemn Jennifer Lopez’s defense of Bad Bunny on the Today Show as a lazy platitude that dodges real accountability. “Music transcends language” does not address transparency, representation, or the selection process for the Super Bowl headliner. We deserve clear justification and openness.", penned an X user.
"Jennifer Lopez defending Bad Bunny like the world needed a pop PR summit.", added another.
"And it really does. Im Puerto rican- a 'no sabo' kid, so I dont speak Spanish well. But if you watch the music videos- look up the lyrics. It takes 5 seconds to see what he's saying. Being from Puerto Rico comes with this sense of pride, and love for the island that is (1/?)", commented a third.

Others also chimed in to comment on Jennifer Lopez's statement:

"There is literally no controversy with Bad Bunny performing. Not even a little. It’s 7 people on Twitter whining BECAUSE ITS TWITTER and the oversaturation of media turns that into a major scandal that doesn’t exist. The news is run by drunk children in high school.", opined a netizen.
"Of course Jennifer Lopez is defending him, Hollywood never holds its own accountable when fans have real concerns.", wrote another.
"Is there controversy? HA HA HA Ladies and gentlemen... your average voter. P.S. Jennifer Lopez dated Diddy.", shared a third.
