Britney Spears has released a statement on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the claims made by her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, in his upcoming memoir, You Thought You Knew. On October 14, The New York Post released an article revealing excerpts from the memoir that talked about Spears and her relationship with her two sons.

Spears and Federline were married for three years starting in 2004. The couple also shares two sons named Sean Preston Federline and Jayden James Federline.

Britney Spears began her statement by writing:

"The constant gaslighting from ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting. I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys. Relationships with teenage boys is complex. I have felt demoralized by this situation and have always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life."

Spears also mentioned that her two sons have often seen their father treat her disrespectfully. Continuing the statement, she wrote:

"With one son only seeing me for 45 min in the past 5 years and the other with only 4 visits in the past 5 years. I have pride too. From now on I will let them know when I am available."

Spears claimed that the minor falsehoods in the book are benefiting financially, while she is the one truly affected. Ending the statement, she wrote on X (formerly Twitter),

"I am actually a pretty intelligent woman who has been trying to live a sacred and private life the past 5 years. I speak on this because I have had enough and any real woman would do the same."

What did Kevin Federline say about Britney Spears in his memoir, You Thought You Knew

Speaking about Britney, Kevin Federline wrote how Britney used to stand with a knife in their children's room:

"They would awaken sometimes at night to find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep — ’Oh, you’re awake?’ — with a knife in her hand. Then she’d turn around and pad off without explanation."

In an interview with TMZ, Kevin Federline revealed that their two sons want to have a relationship with their mother and that the memoir is intended to support Spears. He also mentioned that the book touches on Britney’s conservatorship and added that he, along with the rest of Britney’s family, wants her to be happy, healthy, and close to them.

As of now, Kevin Federline has not responded to Britney Spears’ statement. The memoir You Thought You Knew is scheduled for release on October 21.
