Cassie Ventura's friend and fashion designer, Bryana "Bana" Bongolan, and the singer were sleeping over at Ventura's Los Angeles apartment in September 2016 when Sean “Diddy” Combs suddenly entered and shouted at her. She accused Combs of grabbing her by the arms, turning her toward the railing, and lifting her onto the banister of the 17th-floor balcony above the street.

According to a report by the BBC, the lawsuit claims, he repeatedly yelled,

“You know what the f–k you did” as he held her aloft, leaving her unable to move away.

She also claimed that she struggled to keep from falling, but Combs “easily overpowered” her despite her efforts. Ventura then rushed out and tried to pull Bongolan back to safety, but Combs slammed Bongolan onto patio furniture instead.

According to the New York Post, Bongolan’s testimony on Wednesday, June 4, also included an event where she saw Diddy throw a large kitchen knife at Cassie, which narrowly missed hitting her. In that moment, she says, Cassie managed to catch and throw the knife back at Combs.

As per NBC News, on another occasion in Malibu, Combs allegedly cornered Bongolan during a photo shoot and told her,

“I’m the devil and I could kill you.”

This made her feel extremely frightened. Bongolan admitted to the usage of cocaine at the time, but she maintains that she was terrified during these episodes. She added that these experiences left her with nightmares and lasting fear.

According to PEOPLE Magazine, in November 2024, Bongolan filed a civil suit against Diddy for sexual battery, false imprisonment, and emotional distress, seeking $10 million in damages. Her lawsuit details not only the balcony incident but also threats and episodes of violence over several years.

According to NBC News, she claims that Combs’ physical force and verbal threats made her feel unsafe and damaged her mental health. She suffered from nightmares and also claimed to scream in her sleep. The suit alleges that Combs groped her without consent, then lifted her off the ground toward the balcony rail. It describes how Cassie’s intervention did not stop Combs from slamming Bongolan onto furniture afterward.

Diddy’s criminal charges and his defense

Meanwhile, Diddy is on trial in Manhattan for federal charges including sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transporting individuals for prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty to all counts. Prosecutors claim Combs used his influence and money to coerce women into sexual acts, sometimes under threats of violence or force.

Combs’ lawyers argue that the alleged incidents were consensual and that many accusers are motivated by financial gain rather than truth. His legal team has denied all wrongdoing they believe that the legal process will prove these claims false.
