On Tuesday, May 13, the Angel singer sued her former boyfriend, DDG, over allegations of verbal and physical abuse, after which a temporary restraining order was granted in her favor till the upcoming hearing slated for June 6, 2025.
According to the Los Angeles Times magazine, the Color Purple cast member explicitly explained the not-so-friendly experiences she had while dating DDG via an official statement to the court that reads:
“Throughout our relationship and continuing to date, Darryl has been and continues to be physically, verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive towards me."
Based on info from People magazine, Halle Bailey also addressed the hateful comments and threats she has received from netizens as a result of DDG's accusations regarding her alleged attempt to keep their one-year-old son Halo away from him.
"He claims I am withholding our son and that I am with other men. As a result, I then receive threats and hate on social media. He seems to try to set up drama for his fans. He goes 'live' ranting about me and alleges that I am keeping Halo from him. This is false. I have requested a set schedule, which he refuses,” she said.
On June 4, 2025, DDG countered the Atlanta-born singer's claims in a lawsuit, appealing for a "domestic violence" restraining order.
According to People magazine, the American rapper claims Halo is likely to face "imminent emotional and psychological risks" as a result of "repeated, documented threats of self-harm," which Halle has dealt with in the past.
He also proceeds to state reasons why Halo shouldn't accompany Halle Bailey on her trip to Italy for a movie shoot during the weekend. The Twitch streamer suggested that his son's safety would be at stake without the presence of "emergency intervention mechanisms" and the Court's protection.
At the time of writing this article, the court has not yet responded to his petitions, and the first hearing of the case is still planned for June 6, 2025.
