On Thursday, May 1, 2025, the 54-year-old Puerto Rican artist Roy Rossello filed a s*xual assault lawsuit against his ex-manager Edgardo Diaz and the late RCA Records owner Jose Menendez.
In the civil lawsuit, Rossello allegedly states that he was victimised for three years while being a member of the popular 1980s boy band Menudo.
Following the supposed timeline of the assault that spans from 1983 to 1986, Roy Rossello allegedly explained that he was subjected to a series of s*xual exploitations, which cut across the US to other countries like Puerto Rico and Brazil.

In the letter of complaint filed by the former band member, he purportedly highlighted different scenarios and dates on which he was allegedly molested, aligning them to actual performances and appearances the band had during his three-year contract with the band.
Prior to these recent claims, Roy Rossello has once spoken about his not-so-friendly experiences as a member of the music group. The first time he made these allegations against Menendez was when he was featured on Peacock's documentary series, "Menendez and Menudo: Boys Betrayed."
Debunking Roy Rossello's allegations, Munedo's very own promoter, Darrin Gillis, claims the former's stories are all made up, demanding a sum of five hundred million dollars from the US-based broadcasting company NBC for seemingly tarnishing Munedo's integrity through their Docuseries.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gillis reportedly mentioned that the "Boys Betrayed" producer Rand tried convincing him to appear on the show, in which he would have to testify against the deceased and fabricate some lies which could eventually free the Menendez brothers who have been convicted years back over the murder of their father, Jose Menendez.
Gillis further went on to narrate the supposed scheme Rand proposed to him, allegedly stating that it was about a framed letter that one of the Menendez brothers claimed to have written to a relative decades back regarding his father's abusiveness.
“He told me about this letter — that he went there, and the lady let him go into the house, and so he has free access. And voila! Then I found a letter … Nobody knows whether I found it there or not.’ So he was telling me that he planted this letter.” Gillis disclosed.
In an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Randy countered Gillis' allegations, speaking on the authenticity of the so-called framed letter.
His statement reads:
"The letter is authentic. I discovered at the home of the sister of José Menendez in March of 2018.”
He proceeded by attesting that he had been in contact with Gillis but only for business purposes.
"Darrin McGillis was one of the many people I interviewed during reporting trips to Puerto Rico in the 1990s. We had a few phone calls in recent years when we considered licensing some Menudo financial documents from him." Randy explained.
