Gayle King’s time at CBS could be taking a turn, with talk of big changes happening across the network. According to TMZ, King might have to leave CBS Mornings because of the new restructuring going on within the network. While the exact date is not predicted yet, the outlet reports it could happen sometime in the next year.

On October 29, the network let go of around 100 staff, cutting down on the size. The Independent reported that eight female correspondents were also laid off. Sources of the outlet stated that a male correspondent was chosen but was replaced by a woman after appealing to Bari Weiss, the new editor-in-chief of CBS News.

Weiss took over as editor-in-chief of CBS News earlier this month, with the following responsibilities outlined for her according to the network:

"Weiss will shape editorial priorities, champion core values across platforms, and lead innovation in how the organization reports and delivers the news. Weiss will partner with CBS News President Tom Cibrowski, who reports to Paramount's Chair of TV Media, George Cheeks. Cibrowski's decades of journalistic, operational, and broadcast experience provide essential continuity and expertise."

CBS breaks the silence on Gayle King’s rumored exit

While Gayle King's rumored exit is gaining attention online, CBS has responded to the same through the reported statement:

"There have been no discussions with Gayle about her contract that runs through May 2026. She’s a truly valued part of CBS and we look forward to engaging with her about the future."

Gayle King has been with CBS for about fourteen years. According to Variety, Gayle King may take on a new role as CBS restructures under Paramount Skydance.

As of now, CBS’s morning show reportedly ranks behind ABC, reportedly drawing about 1.8 million viewers.

According to an insider's statement to The New York Post:

"Co-anchors Michelle Miller, Dana Jacobson and the show’s executive producer Brian Applegate have been informed and are on their way out."

With rumors about CBS Mornings already making headlines, the New York Post also reported through a source that CBS Mornings Plus will also end.

Over the years, King has made her mark at the network with some of her biggest moments, including her recent Blue Origin space flight and her R. Kelly interview. While CBS has dismissed reports of her exit, Gayle King has not commented on the rumors yet. It’s still unclear what new role she might take on if the changes move forward.
