Pokimane’s controversial statement about the “ultra-rich” during a live stream has resulted in clapbacks from other streamers and online personalities. The popular live streamer went on a rant during a Jason IRL stream in Paris, where she expressed that she hated the “Ultra-rich":

"We hate the rich. (Jason asks, 'Aren't you the rich?') No. Like the ultra-rich, the ultra-giga-rich, the unnecessarily rich, the billionaires, the Bezos."

Nicolas Kenn De Balinthazy, aka Sneako, popular for his hot takes on popular culture and politics, reacted to the video telling the 28-year-old Pokimane to Shut the f**k up:

"Shut the f**k up. 'No, I'm just like you, poor people.' On a yacht, drifting through Paris, making millions of dollars. Shut the f**k up. If you are gonna eat the rich, you're gonna eat yourself... it's like they are so rich that they lost perspective of how much money they have."

X users reacted to the video shared by @FearedBuck on X, with some finding it ironic that they agreed with Sneako's statement:

"Sneako being the one with the correct perspective is insane," @slushfunder stated.
"This probably the first time I actually agree with Sneako," @ballnokdee added.
"Ultra hyper rare good Sneako take," @MimpThinks tweeted.

Others seemed to agree with Pokimane's statement about rich people despite her being a millionaire herself:

"Y'all really don't realize the difference between a billionaire and a millionaire huh.." @LexiMexi19 stated.
"i don't like pokimane, but this is not hypocritical. a rich person who made her money without exploiting workers is perfectly justified in criticizing the MEGA-rich oligarch class who are intentionally widening the wealth gap in order to create a slave class of desperate workers," @bucketz_bucketz added.
"Pokimane doesn't have any societal power like politicians and billionaires. The gap between the 1% and 0.1% is infinite," @Sophistrys_Sake explained.

More details on Pokimane’s “Ultra-rich” controversy as she expresses shock at the support she has received

On April 20, 2025, a 45-second clip from Imane, aka Pokimane’s joint livestream with FaZe Clan’s Jasontheweem went viral on Reddit and X. At the start of the video where she makes the statement about the “ultra-rich,” Pokimane asks a person off-camera if they believe a revolution in the United States is imminent.

When Jason asks her to elaborate on her statement about a revolution, Imane states that the wealth gap is widening, and she is unhappy with it.

She stated:

"Do you think, someday, we'll have a revolution like that in America? Right? It's getting there. Right? Another one. The wealth disparity is getting bad! (Jasontheween says, 'The wage gap, I hate that s**t.') No, wealth disparity. Wage gap is like between men and women. Men and women, we love each other, and we hate the rich. Anyway, too much..."

Jason then responds:

"Aren't you the rich?!"

Pokimane clarifies that she is speaking about the ultra-rich:

"No! Like the ultra-rich. The ultra-giga-rich. The unnecessarily rich. (Jasontheween says, 'You have to clarify. They're going to clip that, and it's going to make you look bad. You've got to say the billionaires because you are rich! You can't be saying that.') Oh... the billionaires. The Bezos."

The video earned her considerable backlash from Netizens who felt she wasn't self-aware as she was supposedly part of the problem she was complaining about. Pokimane has expressed shock at the support she has gotten from “nice people” on the internet.

The Twitch star, in a video posted on X on April 22, 2025, was surprised at being able to rally people to her defense in light of the recent controversy surrounding her.

She shared that many people who didn’t even consume her content had many things to say about her, and it bothered her that her name was being mentioned in circles she didn’t affiliate with:

"But my main point is actually, as much sometimes, it bothers me to feel like my name is known in circles that I don't affiliate with or that are not part of my community. The upside is sometimes I bring such nice people to my defense, and I'm like... like, I'm shocked. My heart is warm."
