Candace Owens and billionaire Bill Ackman seem to have engaged in some online back-and-forth. This goes back to a recent video posted by Owens on her YouTube channel. She claimed that political activist Charlie Kirk, who was shot dead on September 10, was at an event in New Hampton.

Candace Owens said an intervention was staged for him by Ackman, all because of Kirk’s thoughts and ideas about Israel. She said:

“Bill Ackman was very upset and threats were made. That is what I am told.”

The clip from the YouTube video was posted on X by Collin Rugg. Resharing the post, Ackman clarified that he was not involved in making any such threatening attempts to Charlie. According to Ackman:

“For the record, at no time have I ever threatened Charlie Kirk, Turning Point or anyone associated with him. I have never blackmailed anyone, let alone Charlie Kirk. I have never offered Charlie or Turning Point any money in an attempt to influence Charlie's opinion on anything.”

Bill Ackman further wrote:

“In fact, my interactions with Charlie Kirk have been extremely cordial, albeit limited, regretfully so, as I was very impressed by him and his work and I will sadly never see him again.”

He also criticized Candace Owens, saying he decided to respond because he wanted to clear his name. He felt upset that some people online were trying to make money from Charlie Kirk’s tragic death.

How did Candace Owens respond to Bill Ackman’s claims?

Candace Owens reshared the X post, criticising Ackman, and wrote that he did not need to boost her platform. She mentioned that despite his previous claims of having receipts to prove his innocence about the alleged threats, he failed to provide them. In her next point, Owens wrote:

“I know feigning victimhood is kind of an Israeli-brand thing but…I was clear that Charlie felt blackmailed by the offer to fund TPUSA, which he refused. No one said “Bill Ackman blackmailed Charlie Kirk”. Try to resist the urge to rewrite history.”

Owens claimed that people at the event described it as an intervention. She mentioned that Josh Hammer and Seth Dillon were especially upset because Charlie Kirk had shared his frustration with Bibi Netanyahu and what could happen if he spoke against him publicly. Candace Owens also wrote:

“Nothing else in your overly-worded response disputes that Charlie was pressed by you and others about his viewpoints on Israel and about Tucker Carlson, or Bibi’s phone call. Try to stay focused and answer the questions.”

Meanwhile, in his X post, Bill Ackman wrote that he found the sessions interesting and liked meeting the influencers. It helped him understand what young Americans were thinking about different issues.

At the end, he said he sat with Charlie and his team to discuss the event. Charlie Kirk thought he had found some people who could become Turning Point ambassadors and run open mic events on campus, and they agreed to stay in touch.
