UFC President Dana White shared his thoughts about those who celebrated Charlie Kirk’s death. On September 26, he was a guest on 60 Minutes. At one point during the conversation, the host asked if there was anything a fighter could say that could have severe consequences. White said:
“I'm a big believer in free speech and unfortunately probably the most important speech to protect is hate speech.”
The host asked if he wasn’t a fan of cancel culture, to which he responded:
“No, I hate it. On both sides. It's like all the stuff that's going on with Charlie right now. You know, these people are going out and saying stuff and you know, you're seeing people getting fired or kicked out of school.”
His statement continued:
“I think you're a disgusting human being if you're celebrating the death of another human being, but people make mistakes and people are going to do dumb things. I don't like trying to destroy people's lives over doing something dumb.”
At the beginning of the interview, Dana White said that whenever he read stories about UFC’s business, he would respond that nobody knew about the business. He initially began his business with support from Donald Trump. Speaking about the support he received from the President, White said:
“The relationship that he and I have. And when we get together and I have dinner with him, we don't talk politics. We talk about goofy guy stuff that all guys talk about. You know what I mean? We talk about Rocky movies. We talk about different fights that have happened.”
Meanwhile, speaking about the fanbase, Dana White said that it included 18- to 34-year-old males. He said:
“We are definitely unapologetically masculine.”
What did Dana White say about Charlie Kirk on the IMPAULSIVE podcast?
This wasn’t the first time Dana White spoke about Charlie Kirk. On September 17, White was a guest on the IMPAULSIVE podcast. Near the end of the conversation, host Mike Majlak asked White how he reacted to Charlie Kirk’s death.
White said he had woken up when his phone started flooding with messages. He was shocked, especially after seeing the video of a college student attacking Charlie Kirk from 200 yards away. He found it unbelievable. What shocked him further was the impact it had on his own kids, who regularly followed Kirk online.
Dana White said his 19-year-old daughter, who was in college, was upset for days. He said he felt terrible for Kirk’s family and thought the whole situation was unreal. Reflecting on the incident, he said:
“To see it happen to a guy like that goes to college campuses and debates college kids is pretty f*cking crazy.”
Dana White said that what made Charlie Kirk stand out was his ability to debate without insulting people. He remembered a clip where someone told Kirk it was unfair for him to debate college freshmen. Kirk replied that he never went to college and suggested bringing in five professors with PhDs instead.
White explained that Charlie Kirk could argue strongly without making others feel small, unlike people who got rude when they couldn’t keep up in a debate.
