Author and Elon Musk’s ex, Ashley St. Clair, made a few revelations on the first episode of her Bad Advice podcast, which aired on August 19. She started off the video, saying:
“Well, after a year of unplanned career suicide, many questionable life choices, and a gap in my LinkedIn profile that cannot legally be explained, I've decided to start a podcast.”
She went on:
“Also, I'm getting evicted and Polymarket offered me $10,000 to do an ad read. So, with that, the roof over my head has been brought to you by Polymarket.”
Ashley St. Clair explained that, unlike some other famous speakers, she didn’t start her podcast because she thought her ideas were the best. Instead, she believed her ideas weren’t that great and wanted people to treat what she said more like a warning than advice.
Clair is reportedly the mother of Elon Musk’s child, Romulus. Speaking to the Wall Street Journal in April 2025, Clair mentioned that she was offered a huge amount of money and monthly support to raise her baby, in exchange for being silent about the baby.
The newspaper quotes that this negotiation was facilitated by Elon Musk’s fixer, Jared Birchall. However, she told him:
“I don’t want my son to feel like he’s a secret.”
Ashley St. Clair remembered Birchall saying that his boss was kind and generous. Also, he allegedly said that when the mother of his child handled things through legal action, it usually ended up being worse for her than it would have been if she had handled it differently.
Elon Musk previously said he was unsure if Ashley St. Clair’s child was his or not
The Wall Street Journal noted that Elon Musk was to take a paternity test to determine if he was the father of Ashley St. Clair’s baby. When the results came out, it turned out that the chances were 99.9%.
According to E! News, Ashley had previously filed for the sole custody of her baby. She had also alleged that Musk attempted to reduce the child support. These claims came about much before the WSJ interview. Elon Musk, however, reshared an X post containing Ashley St. Clair’s claims and wrote:
“I don’t know if the child is mine or not, but am not against finding out. No court order is needed. Despite not knowing for sure, I have given Ashley $2.5M and am sending her $500k/year.”
Meanwhile, the newspaper mentions that when Ashley St. Clair was pregnant, in a text to her, Musk allegedly explained that using surrogates would help them reach a large number of children before the world faced big problems. Also, one of Birchall’s messages to her allegedly was:
“Privacy and confidentiality is the top of the list in every aspect of his life, every aspect, and his entire world is set up to be, like, a meritocracy.”
Entrepreneur Martin Varsavsky shared Elon Musk’s sentiments with the newspaper, saying that without babies, there would be no future, and all other problems would seem less important compared to not having enough people in the world. He also shared that Elon believed a country was not just its land but the people living in it.
