On August 12, Elon Musk took to Instagram to target Apple for what he believes is an "unequivocal antitrust violation," which will lead him to take "immediate legal action". In one of his X posts, the Tesla founder wrote:
"Apple is behaving in a manner that makes it impossible for any AI company besides OpenAI to reach #1 in the App Store, which is an unequivocal antitrust violation. xAI will take immediate legal action."
Musk has also posted numerous tweets targeting the multinational corporation. In one of them, he questioned Apple for not including 'X' in the Apple store, when it has been named as the "#1 news app in the USA". He wrote:
"Hey @Apple App Store, why do you refuse to put either 𝕏 or Grok in your 'Must Have' section when 𝕏 is the #1 news app in the world and Grok is #5 among all apps? Are you playing politics? What gives? Inquiring minds want to know."
What did Elon Musk say about Apple integrating OpenAI into their products?
This was not the first time Elon Musk has targeted Apple through his "tweets". Last year, Apple announced that it would be working together with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into its devices, including mobile phones, iPads, and MacBooks. This will allow the users to access ChatGPT's features without opening and closing the actual app.
Musk was not happy with this development and took to Instagram to express his thoughts. He wrote:
"If Apple integrates OpenAI at the OS level, then Apple devices will be banned at my companies. That is an unacceptable security violation."
Elon Musk doubles down on Apple for not including X or Grok on their Apple Store lists
In a recent flurry of posts on X, Musk has repeatedly asked Apple why it refused to add X or Grok to certain lists on the Apple Store. He backs this up by retweeting posts that mention either X as the "#1 news app".
Elon Musk tweeted:
"Why are the Grok and the 𝕏 app excluded from every list, except those measuring raw downloads, but ChatGPT is on every list? This is messed up!"
Another of his tweets included a screenshot from the Apple Store. It is a list of AI-powered apps, which includes ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Canva, Lightroom, Duolingo, and more. It reads:
"Grok is the smartest AI in the world on the toughest tests and just came first by far in coding, but is not mentioned at all under “AI” by Apple!"
Elon Musk has accused Apple of antitrust violations for excluding X and Grok from key Apple Store lists while promoting ChatGPT. He has vowed immediate legal action, criticizing Apple’s partnership with OpenAI as unfair and politically driven.
