Dave Edmunds’ wife, Cici Edmunds, has shared a new update on her husband’s health after his recent cardiac arrest. The 81-year-old Welsh guitarist and singer, best known for his hit song I Hear You Knocking, was taken to the hospital after collapsing at his home in Monmouthshire last month.

Cici, his wife of 40 years, said that Dave had "died in my arms" before a nurse stepped in to save him with urgent medical care. Doctors later confirmed he had suffered brain damage and memory loss, leaving his future uncertain. Cici also said,

"I’m still in shock and I believe I have PTSD from the horrific experience."

Now, after weeks of treatment, Cici has posted online about how Dave is doing and how she herself is coping with the shock.

Cici’s updates after Dave Edmunds' cardiac arrest

Cici has been open about what happened the night Dave Edmunds collapsed. She said she tried to keep him alive while waiting for help. In her words, he almost "horrifically died" in her arms until the nurse managed to revive him.

At first, her messages were full of fear. She wrote that Dave Edmunds was at high risk of another cardiac arrest, and that "if that occurs there is no chance for Dave." She explained that she was helping to clear his airways, wiping fluid from his mouth, and watching him closely. It was a desperate situation.

By early August, there was some progress. Dave Edmunds had a medical procedure where doctors fitted a defibrillator and a special device to protect him if his heart stopped again. Cici said the operation went well, which gave her hope.

On August 17, she shared happier news. Dave Edmunds was allowed to return home for a short visit from the hospital. She wrote that he did so well during the home stay that doctors agreed he could stay at home for longer, but only if nurses were available to look after them both.

"Dave will have a very long journey ahead of him if he survives. We both have. But knowing that there are kind hearted people such as you all makes this tremendously difficult journey a little easier. Bless you all. Sending you all much love and light and always."

Cici herself has also had health struggles. Reports say she has faced pancreatic attacks and needed hospital care, yet she continues to stay strong while caring for Dave.

Cici says that there is "a long road ahead"

Even with this improvement, both Cici and the doctors have said that Dave Edmunds' recovery will not be quick. The brain damage and memory loss from the cardiac arrest remain serious issues. He also faces the risk of another major heart problem, something Cici admitted still frightens her.

Still, her latest updates sound far more hopeful than her earlier ones. She said she believes Dave will be "rocking and rolling" again soon, even if only in small ways. For now, the couple is taking things day by day, with nurses helping at home.

Dave Edmunds' fans have followed the updates closely. For Cici, the focus now is on keeping Dave comfortable and strong. She said,

"As you all kindhearted human souls know he was resurrected by a miracle and an amazing medical team. He's allowed to stay here at home if my nurses look after us both. I can't express my relief and my gratitude to all of you who have left such lovely posts of support and prayers."

The ordeal has been long and painful for both of them, but Cici’s recent words suggest that she is coping better and holding onto hope. With the support of doctors, nurses, and fans, she believes Dave still has a chance to recover and enjoy life at home.
