Jamie Lee Curtis, a well-known actress, opens up about her journey and reasons for getting plastic surgery when she was just 25 years old. She said a mean comment about her appearance, from a cinematographer back in 1985, made her very upset. This hurt feeling pushed her to get plastic surgery. But now, many years later, at the age of 66, she says she wishes she had not done it.

Jamie said that when she was making a movie called Perfect in 1985, a person working on the film said something hurtful about her eyes. She said,

“He was like, ‘Yeah, I'm not shooting her today. Her eyes are baggy.’ And I was 25, so for him to say that, it was very embarrassing.”

Because of this, Jamie Lee Curtis decided to have plastic surgery right after the movie finished. But the surgery did not go well. She said,

“That's just not what you want to do when you're 25 or 26. And I regretted it immediately and have kind of sort of regretted it since.”

Now, Jamie supports loving yourself the way you are. She said,

“I've become a really public advocate to say to women you're gorgeous and you're perfect the way you are. So yeah, it was not a good thing for me to do.”

Jamie Lee Curtis talks about the Painkillers that came after the Surgery

Jamie Lee Curtis also talked about something else that happened after her surgery. She started to use pain medicine a lot. These medicines are strong and can make one feel good, but can also be addictive in a negative way. She said,

“I became very enamored with the warm bath of an opiate.” Opiates are a kind of pain medicine. Jamie explained, “You know, drank a little bit … never to excess, never any big public demonstrations. I was very quiet, very private about it, but it became a dependency for sure.”

This means she used the medicine quietly but could not stop easily. In 2021, Jamie talked more about this. She said the surgery made her addicted to a painkiller called Vicodin. She told Fast Company,

“I tried plastic surgery and it didn't work. It got me addicted to Vicodin.”

But now, Jamie is proud to say she has been free from addiction for 22 years. Jamie also said that many people today care too much about changing how they look. She said,

“The current trend of fillers and procedures, and this obsession with filtering, and the things that we do to adjust our appearance on Zoom are wiping out generations of beauty. Once you mess with your face, you can't get it back.”

Jamie also spoke about what it is like to get older when you are an actor. Her parents had plastic surgery too. She said she saw them get “face lifts and neck lifts.” This helped her see how tough it is to grow old in Hollywood.

She explained,

“For the rest of your life, you are famous for something you did a long time ago, and you chase that attention.”

Jamie Lee Curtis has had a long career. She learned from her own story and now tells people to love how they look naturally.
