On October 16, TMZ published an exclusive story reporting that streamer Hasan Piker, also known as HasanAbi, is revealing that he had been receiving death threats after he was accused of alleged dog abuse.
YouTuber Tectone, reshared the TMZ clip on his X, writing:
“Hasan you have caused people to come to my f*cking house over the lies you spew You’ve caused people to deactivate and quit content creation The amount of call to violences you do on the daily you should really look in the mirror before playing the victim 0 sympathy for this piece of sh*t.”
Reflecting on the previous streaming video, based on which viewers speculated that Piker used a shock collar on Kaya, his pet dog, he told TMZ that the clip looked terrible. He said he turned his face to give Kaya a place command, and she yelped. HasanAbi told the outlet:
“She’s getting back up onto the bed. In the process of getting back up onto the bed, she yelps in that moment. And every now and then, she snags her claw onto something a dew claw or she steps on something funny. Sometimes when I am wrestling with her, she will give off a little yelp or sometimes when she is playing with other dogs, she will give off a yelp.
HasanAbi told TMZ that Kaya wasn’t even wearing the vibration collar on the day of the incident and had a regular collar around her neck.
HasanAbi said people even threatened him that they would abduct Kaya
Piker said Kaya had different collars for different purposes, like the fight and vibration collars. HasanAbi said the vibration collar was used for training purposes or when he took her out for walking. He said:
“When I take her on long walks, I like to let her roam. I like to let her run around and if she is super far away where she can’t hear me or if her attention is elsewhere, you know, if she is like chasing a squirrel or something, the vibration is supposed to communicate alongside with like your voice.”
HasanAbi said he was being called out on social media for being a dog abuser and was threatened with physical harm. Some even said that they would kidnap his dog, which he felt was insane. He then showed his phone, showing a message in which someone asked if he was the dog abuser. Despite that, he said:
“It’s understandable but there are definitely people who are like actively pushing to drive home some kind of narrative and that has been a little weird to deal with, like people who like sincerely are going like, ‘You are a dog abuser and you must die.’”
Following the controversy, online memes have also erupted. Moreover, AI-generated videos have also floated around showing Kaya on HasanAbi’s chair while the streamer sat on her bed. Piker had dismissed the claims during his streaming sessions and even said that Kaya was a pampered dog during one of the episodes of the Fear& podcast.
