Erika Kirk delivered an emotional tribute at the funeral of her husband, conservative firebrand Charlie Kirk, blinking back tears while the crowd rose to their feet in support. The speech drew waves of applause from the audience, leaving even political commentator Candace Owens astonished.
On Sunday, Sept. 21, the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, was teeming with Charlie Kirk's family, colleagues, friends, and loyal supporters.
President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and several officials also attended to witness the exequies for the conservative activist, who was fatally shot on Sept. 10 while speaking in front of 3,000 students at Utah Valley University (UVU).
The president and top officials spoke to the immense crowd, with Trump saying he has an "eternal debt of gratitude" for Charlie Kirk. But it was Erika Kirk's eulogy that captured the tens of thousands of attendees.
At the memorial service Charlie's widow rose to the podium to honor her husband. She recounted the moment she found out her husband had passed.
“11 days ago, God accepted that total surrender from my husband and then called him to his side… God’s love was revealed to me on the very day my husband was murdered. On the afternoon of September 10, I arrived at a Utah hospital to do the unthinkable, to look directly at my husband’s murdered body."
The former Miss Arizona USA went on:
"I saw the wound that ended his life. I felt everything he would expect to feel. I felt shock. I felt horror, and a level of heartache that I didn’t even know existed. But there was something else too. Even in death, I could see the man that I love… I also saw on his lips the faintest smile…
Erika further shared that even the doctor told her the situation was so sudden that, even if Charlie had been shot right there in the operating room, nothing could have been done. She said:
"There was no pain, there was no fear, no agony. One moment Charlie was doing what he loved, arguing and debating on campus, fighting for the gospel and truth in front of a big crowd, then he blinked. He blinked and saw his savior in paradise.”
During her tribute, Kirk also declared she has forgiven her husband's murderer.
"He wanted to save young men, just like the one who took his life."
Tearfully, she added:
"I forgive him."
