In 2009, Lady Gaga and Beyonce released Telephone from the former’s The Fame Monster album. During Spotify’s Little Monster Press Conference on March 7, 2025, a person from the audience asked, “What’s the tea on Telephone part two?” The question followed a loud cheer from the crowd, and Lady Gaga replied:

“Somebody get my kettle. The tea on Telephone part two is that there will be.”

The news that a sequel to the song is in the works drove fans into a frenzy. People seemed excited about the news as one Instagram user (@kingkichamu) commented:

Netizens hailed the song as a masterpiece, while others mentioned that the sequel was overdue.

“Wow both legends have grown so much musically, vocally and creatively. Part II is long overdue,” another account (@cultureinmedia) reacted.
“I will never recover from this song or video, like my god a masterpiece the outfits, the hair, the makeup, the honeybun just everything,” a social media user (@kandyce_hogan) shared.
“This was my sooongggggg do you hear me?! Choreo and everything chile,” a netizen (@_jurnnnn) reacted.

Many Instagram users seemed skeptical about the news, while others eagerly looked forward to it.

“Beyoncé & Gaga had their feet on the girls NECKSSS during the Telephone/Video Phone era,” an online commentator (@lilparfait) mentioned.
“I'm here for the drama and the intrigue,” a person (@ezethetruth) noted.
“It’s been like 16 years I’ll believe it when I see it lol,” a netizen (@diaryofablackmom2) wrote.
“If it will be happening why do we need to call Beyoncé?” a fan (@blakkhammerjeff) asked.

Lady Gaga is not sure when the song will be out

The 2009 Telephone music video had a “to be continued” ending. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time that Gaga spoke about the sequel. In February 2025, she took a lie detector test with Vanity Fair, where she was asked if the project would continue. She replied in the affirmative, but the interviewer asked when, to which she replied:

“I don’t know.”

The interviewer then showed a photo of Beyonce and asked if she would be in it. Lady Gaga replied, “Maybe.” As per the outcome of the lie detector test, she was not lying about her responses. However, this wasn’t the end of the test. The interviewer then inquired about the delay, claiming it was due to scheduling conflicts with Beyonce, but she denied that.

After Lady Gaga’s response at Spotify’s Little Monster Press Conference, the audience rose into an uproar, and she replied:

“But I am not gonna give it all away. You wouldn’t want that anyway.”

The person who asked urged the singer to share a sneak peek into the work. However, Gaga suggested that they should call Beyonce. The singer released her latest studio album, Mayhem, on March 7, 2025.

When asked about how she sees herself in 2025, in an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone, Lady Gaga shared that she feels more at ease and fully immersed in her artistry. She no longer feels like she’s balancing two separate identities but instead embraces both Lady Gaga and Stefani as one. For her, true fulfillment comes from feeling creatively inspired.
