Chris Brown will appear at the Manchester Magistrates' Court on Friday morning, on May 16, 2025. The "King of R&B" was arrested by the Greater Manchester Police on account of the Metropolitan Police the previous morning, May 15, 2025, at the Lowry Hotel in Salford. The charges behind Brown's arrest are due to an alleged attack that happened two years ago in 2023, in London.

The alleged incident that happened two years ago included Chris Brown hitting music producer, Abel Diaw with a bottle of Don Julio 1942 on the head. This incident transpired during Chris Brown's worldwide tour in 2023.

Regarding the recent arrest that was made, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said:

"A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He has been taken into custody, where he remains. The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023. The investigation is being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit".

The incident of Chris Brown allegedly attacking Abel Diaw, a music producer, happened at the Tape London nightclub. It was on February 11, a few days after Brown kicked off his "Under The Influence Tour" in 2023.

At the time, Diaw filed a lawsuit against Brown for attacking him with a tequila bottle and hitting him on the head. According to the statement from the music producer, he was:

"inflicted severe and lasting injuries"

The injuries were so severe to a point that Diam needed to be taken to the hospital. He also had to use crutches to walk after he was discharged.

At the moment, Brown is being detained in custody in Manchester. He will be appearing in court on the morning of May 16, 2025, and charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.

A Greater Metropolitan Police spokesperson also reported:

"The charge relates to an assault, which reportedly took place at a venue in Hanover Square in London, on Sunday, February 19 2023. This morning (Thursday, May 15) we arrested a 36-year-old man at a hotel in Manchester on suspicion of grievous bodily harm on behalf of the Metropolitan Police."

For those unaware of the term "grievous bodily harm", the legal definition provided by the Cornell Law School (Legal Information Institute) means:

"serious bodily injury. It includes fractured or dislocated bones, deep cuts, torn members of the body, serious damage to internal organs, and other severe bodily injuries. It does not include minor injuries such as a black eye or a bloody nose."

Chris Brown is facing serious legal consequences for an alleged attack that happened two years ago. The American rapper is currently attending a court trial for charges of grievous bodily harm with intent. He was arrested on Thursday morning by the Metropolitan Police.
