Who is Maxo Kream? All about rapper arrested in Texas

Maxo Kream, aka. Emekwanem Ogugua Biosah Jr. is an American rapper who has made a name for himself with his authentic lyrics. Born on March 29, 1990, in Houston, Texas, he grew up on the rough side of town. He frequently uses his lyrics to describe those experiences.

Maxo began rapping in high school with the group Kream Clicc. He was discovered in the early 2010s with mixtapes including Retro Card and Quicc Strikes. His debut album, Punken, was released in 2018.

He signed with Roc Nation later on and dropped his major label debut, Brandon Banks, in 2019.

Maxo has remained busy in the music industry throughout the years, but has also faced legal issues. His arrest on June 27, 2025, in Texas put him back in the spotlight.


Why was Maxo Kream arrested in June 2025?

As TMZ reported on June 27, 2025, Maxo Kream was stopped in Harris County, Texas, for a traffic stop while driving with an expired tag. According to the police, he drove off briefly after being pulled over but stopped again shortly afterward. The officers claimed there was no high-speed chase.

Police searched Maxo's vehicle and discovered two firearms. HotNewHipHop (June 27, 2025) reported that he was accused of illegal possession of a firearm and a misdemeanor charge for fleeing or attempting to evade the police.

Maxo's attorney, Carl A. Moore, has refuted the allegations. According to The Source on June 27, 2025, Moore stated that Maxo did not attempt to flee from the police and complied with their instructions. He stated that Maxo will contest the charges in court. His next court hearing is July 7, 2025.

Has Maxo Kream faced legal trouble before?

As noted by HipHopDX on 1st July 2023, Maxo has had a history of run-ins with the law. He was arrested in 2016 on organized crime-related charges according to the RICO Act. This also involved charges such as drug possession, firearms charges, and money laundering. He was subsequently released on bail and claimed innocence.

In 2023, Maxo was held on additional RICO-related charges. However, he later stated that he had shrugged off the case. Maxo Kream noted that the issues with the law stemmed from misconceptions surrounding his music and persona.

Even with these previous issues, Maxo continued to work on music. He didn't let his legal issues prevent him from touring or creating albums, and his fan base stuck with him.

Maxo Kream is known for his storytelling and blunt lyrics. He uses his music to discuss real-life topics such as family, survival, and growing up in a rough neighborhood. He began with mixtapes and went on to become an acclaimed voice in hip-hop.

In 2024, Maxo released Personification. It had more emphasis on self-improvement and family life. Maxo collaborated with other artists as well, including 03 Greedo, Babyface, and Anderson .Paak.
