Why is Celeste Rivas Hernandez's cause of death listed as "undetermined"? Investigation details emerge

Celeste Rivas Hernandez's tragic death has taken a baffling turn: her body, found in d4vd's Tesla, was dismembered and partially frozen, complicating the medical examiner's ability to determine what actually happened.

In a report obtained by TMZ on Saturday, Nov. 22, the autopsy doctor received the body in a horrible, almost decomposed state. While the victim's torso remained intact when the examiner received the body, the report revealed that the limbs were diced into multiple pieces.

Further, Rivas' body had been "partially frozen" when it was discovered. Detectives noted that it had been thawing for days in the trunk of d4vd's impounded vehicle.

Earlier, the Los Angeles Police Department reported exclusively to People that results from the toxicology report and cause-of-death determination were pending.

Given the ongoing investigations and tests, no arrests or charges can be pursued yet.

Celeste Rivas Hernandez case: What we know about the teen's tragic fate as d4vd is identified as suspect

On Sept. 8, before 12:30, a body was discovered in an expropriated Tesla on the 1000 block of N. Mansfield Avenue after a foul odor was reported to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Multiple reports indicated that the car was initially deserted in the Hollywood Hills before it was towed and moved to the impound lot, where it was found about five days later.

The body was later identified as that of the 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who had been missing since 2024. Her death was dated Sept. 8, while the cause of her passing was listed as "deferred," meaning the case needs further investigation.

Police later discovered that the vehicle was registered under d4vd's name.

According to ABC's Eyewitness News, the "Romantic Homicide" crooner was asked for a comment, and his spokesperson told NBC Los Angeles:

"d4vd has been informed about what's happened. And, although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities."

This statement, however, contradicts the LAPD's latest report that d4vd is "not cooperating" and has not cooperated with the police since the beginning of the investigation.

The law enforcement also searched the singer's home in the Hollywood Hills. Sources also reported that d4vd didn't own the property but was just where he had been staying.

On Nov. 19, two months after the discovery of Celeste Rivas Hernandez's lifeless body in d4vd's car, the "Here With Me" hitmaker was finally listed as a suspect by the LAPD.

A police source also told NBC4 Investigates that the singer possibly assisted in dismembering and disposing of the body.
