Orlando Bloom has joined the dating meme fun, and his response to a social media outlet is winning the hearts of many.

Amid rumors of a budding romance between Bloom's ex-partner Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau, satirical news outlet The Onion recently published a piece jokingly linking Bloom with former German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The post was also accompanied by an AI-generated image that showed the two dining together. The caption for the Instagram post read as follows:

"Just weeks after announcing his split with fiancée Katy Perry, English actor Orlando Bloom was photographed Friday dining with former German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Angela kept Orlando laughing all night — he couldn’t keep his eyes off her!’ said an insider source who spotted the pair sipping wine, slurping oysters and splitting a decadent piece of chocolate layer cake at a Michelin-starred restaurant."

While The Onion has earned a reputation for its absurd take on cultural and political matters, the recent one is hard to top when it comes to its bizarreness. What was very noticeable about the satire was the reaction of Bloom, wherein he made light of the joke and responded to the post with a series of clapping emojis.

The timing of the satire also coincided with significant changes in Orlando Bloom’s personal life. Hence, his poised response was all the more impressive.
