Elon Musk recently unveiled Grok AI’s new Kids Mode. The CEO of SpaceX and Tesla described the mode as a kid-friendly version of the popular Grok AI chatbot he developed through his xAI company.

He tweeted,

“Grok now includes a kids mode.”

The announcement caused a public backlash as netizens disagreed with the idea of children using AI, even if it is a version tailored for children.

@BraedenSorbo commented:

“Call me crazy, but I don’t think children should be accessing AI.”

Another X user, @calvanese1989, wrote:

“While I like Grok alot, kids should not have access to this.”

Hours after Elon Musk announced the new Grok Kids version, the 54-year-old billionaire took a jab at corporate culture, comparing some features of the kids’ mode to “enterprise mode."

He tweeted:

“A friend of mine just pointed out that Grok's 'kids mode' has exactly the same settings as what companies demand for 'enterprise mode. ' We have indeed infantilised businesses in modern society.”

Grok AI Kids Mode comes months after Elon Musk released the recent Grok 4. In a livestream, Elon spoke about the future of Grok AI, sharing that AI should be able to discover new technologies.

“I think it may discover new technologies as soon as later this year. And I would be shocked if it has not done so next year.”

He added:

"So I would expect Grok to literally discover new technologies that are actually useful no later than next year and maybe [the] end of this year."

Grok 4 also introduced a new companion feature that has faced criticism for being overly sexual.

Haley McNamara, the senior Vice President of strategic initiatives and programs for The National Center on Sexual Exploitation, said in a statement:

“These AI chatbots might feel like they care, but they don’t.”

She added:

“And while features like ‘spicy mode’ or flirty avatars might seem like harmless fun, they’re built to create compulsive engagement, through seductive language, suggestive visuals, and escalating emotional intimacy.”

Another feature of Grok 4 is Grok for Government, which makes Grok AI products available to government departments and agencies.
