Hiking influencer Hannah Moody, known as Hannah Rose on Instagram, was discovered dead on May 22 near the Gateway Trailhead at the McDowell Sonoran Preserve in Scottsdale, Arizona. Moody’s final Instagram post, shared on May 19, was the first part of her new hiking series, Hikes w/ Han.

Remembering Hannah Moody in a tribute, the family wrote on her Instagram on August 11:

"For Hannah’s followers who may not have heard, Hannah went to be with the One she loved in Heaven this past May. She died doing what she adored—hiking the Arizona mountains."

Continuing the statement, they wrote:

"Know that you were all precious and loved by her and that she would want nothing more than for each of you to find Jesus and to know His great goodness and love for you."

The family expressed their emotions, saying they miss her but find comfort in believing she’s in a more beautiful place and that they will meet again. Hannah was 31 years old.

Hannah Moody’s death linked to heat exposure

According to Us Weekly, on May 21, she went on a solo hike but did not return. Three days after she uploaded the first part of the hiking series, the hiker was found dead by the Scottsdale Police Department, who said in a statement:

"The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Air Unit located Hannah’s body around 12:05 p.m., about 600 yards off-trail. Scottsdale detectives and crime scene personnel will now conduct a thorough investigation to piece together what happened to Hannah and how she died."

Authorities later stated that she died from heat exposure and classified it as accidental.

Following the tragic news, Hannah’s brother, Joel Moody, shared a post on Facebook:

"I received word earlier today that my little sister Hannah Rose died. For these deep emotions, I need to write in order to process them, even as these words fail to encompass the tumult in my soul. Thank you for bearing with my processing. Thank you also for keeping all of us in your prayers."

Remembering Hannah Moody, Sunny Parker, admin of Arizona Foothills 911's Facebook page, wrote:

"We are heartbroken by the loss of Hannah Moody. From all of the outpouring I have read from the community, Hannah was a beautiful radiant 31 year old whose life brought light, laughter, and love to so many. Her journey ended far too soon on one of Arizona’s beautiful trails, The McDowell Sonoran Preserve. She was on a hike headed towards Tom’s Thumb, a place she loved."

Honoring her memory, they wrote:

"Today the hiking community in our state has started #hikeforHanna. Although we would ask people NOT to hike in this heat, perhaps you could take a small walk or hike this evening or weekend as it cools down in her honor."

Hannah's memorial service was held on June 17, according to Arizona Foothills 911's Facebook page.
