Diddy's longtime friend Charlucci Finney has claimed that the rapper became a target of an alleged knife attack inside Brooklyn’s MDC prison. In a statement to the Daily Mail, he said:

"He woke up with a knife to his throat. I don't know whether he fought him off or the guards came, I just know that it happened."

He continued:

"If this guy had wanted to harm him, Sean would have been harmed. It would only take a second to cut his throat with a weapon and kill him. It was probably a way to say: "Next time you ain't gonna be so lucky". Everything is intimidation. But with Sean it won't work. Sean is from Harlem."

According to Finney, the incident seemed more like a warning to Diddy, as the person could have easily caused serious harm but didn’t.

Charlucci Finney and Diddy are close friends

Charlucci Finney and Combs have a friendship of over thirty years, according to the Daily Mail. Finney is a manager, creator, and executive producer. Speaking of the first time he met Combs, Finney said in an interview with Complex:

"I met Sean in the late '80s, at a record company called Uptown Records where he was interning. I was just enamored at being able to walk into a record company at all. And the fact that it was Black-owned was really impressive."

Charlucci Finney also reportedly attended all of Diddy's trials to support him. Talking about Diddy, in a statement reported by The Blast, he said:

"All this stuff that came out, the drugs and the abuse, I wasn't privy to that. Neither were his children. Around us, Sean was a lovable caregiver, a father, a brother, a best friend."

However, Charlucci Finney has denied working for Combs, calling it only a close friendship that the two shared, stating:

"He's been there for me at pivotal moments of my life. He pops in during unique moments in my life. I might be going through something financially, or something spiritually. Because I don't have any older siblings, I like a big brother thing, and he's always provided that for me."

In the interview with the outlet, Charlucci Finney said his role has been that of an uncle to Diddy’s sons during the trial. Finney also wore multiple text-based shirts during the trial, starting with one quoting Diddy about people skipping court. He later popularized the "Free Puff" shirts and even handed out flyers explaining the differences in the federal RICO case.
