Ricardo Ruiz Velazco has been linked to the murder of Valeria Márquez, a 23-year-old beauty influencer who was shot dead during a livestream at her beauty salon on May 13, 2025, local media in Zapopan, Mexico, reported.
According to a report in Parriva, Velazco is known by the aliases "El Doble RR," "RR," or "El Tripa," and he is a high-ranking leader within the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), one of Mexico's most powerful and violent criminal organizations. It also reportedly waged a bloody war against the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel in Guanajuato, per the outlet.
Jalisco authorities reported that the suspect had been involved in a romantic relationship with Márquez for months. He was allegedly angry with her because she received expensive gifts from her fans.

In addition to being the leader of one of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel groups, the name of Ricardo Ruiz Velazco, alias "RR" or "El Tripa," has also appeared in several high-profile cases. This includes the 2012 murder of Daisy Ferrer Arenas and the murder of Juan Luis Lagunas, a report in ABC noticias.mx stated.
According to the outlet, Arenas was a Venezuela-based woman whose human remains were found in a sewage canal in Guadalajara. Lagunas, a social media influencer who was better known as "El Pirata de Cualiacán", was reportedly murdered on December 19, 2017, in a bar located on the limits of Zapopan and Tlaquepaque.
Velazco is also linked to the murder of the Secretary of Tourism, José de Jesús Gallegos Álvarez, in 2013, a report in Vanguardia noted. It stated that he killed Lagunas as he planned to take revenge for the insults she launched against 'El Mencho.'
Earlier, Valeria Márquez stated that she had received threats from her ex-partner and holds Velazco responsible if anything happens to her or her family, as indicated in a report in Vanguardia. Márquez wrote in one of her Instagram stories,
“He was my current partner with whom I lived, that's why I say that he is my 'ex' and I hold that person responsible for anything that happens to me and my family (even if I have to leave the city).”
According to a report in CNN, around 847 cases of femicide were reported in Mexico in 2024 and 162 cases in the first three months of this year.
