Lizzo has admitted that she used Ozempic and other GLP-1 medications during her weight loss journey, before deciding it was not for her.

In her recent discussion with YouTube and Just Trish podcast host Trisha Paytas, which was shared on June 19, 2025, the 37-year-old singer talked about that while Ozempic and other medications are effective because they reduce food intake by making you feel full, she found she could accomplish the same results through self-discipline and dietary changes.

She said:

“I’ve tried everything. Ozempic works because you eat less food, yeah? So if you eat right, it makes you feel full. But if you can just do that on your own and get mind over matter, it's the same thing.”

What else did Lizzo tell about her weight loss journey? Let us understand it more deeply.

Lizzo reveals how eating meat contributed to her weight loss journey

In her recent discussion with YouTuber Trisha Paytas, Lizzo credited reintroducing meat in her diet as playing a pivotal role in her overall well-being. She said that when she was vegan, she consumed fake meats, large quantities of bread, and rice to keep herself full. She said that she was consuming 3000 to 5000 calories a day.

However, adding meat to her diet helped the Truth Hurts singer a lot in boosting her energy levels and contributed to her weight loss. In her video, she said:

“What did it for me is, it was not being vegan. Because when I was vegan, I was consuming a lot of fake meats, I was eating a lot of bread, I was eating a lot of rice and I had to eat a lot of it to stay full.”

She added,

"When I started actually eating whole foods and eating, like, beef and chicken and fish. I was actually full and not expanding my stomach by putting a lot of fake things in there that wasn't actually filling me up."

She further revealed that she had been living a plant-based lifestyle for 10 years, and had been vegan from 2020 to 2023. She also believed that fast food is not good for health and that it has “invisible additives that are making us all sick and addicted.” She encouraged her viewers to start cooking food at home or hire a chef if affordable.

In her video, Lizzo also urged people not to criticize others for taking Ozempic because it is not easy. She said that it is a drug to help them with something they are struggling with, and could not be called “cheating.”

Talking about how hard it is to go for weight loss surgery, she said:

"People feel like they almost died on the table and they got so sick after getting like the weight loss surgery. That's just not easy you know, what I'm saying.”

Lizzo has often promoted body positivity and also shared her weight loss transformation with her fans, encouraging them to embrace self-love and confidence at every stage of their journey.
