Rapper Maine Musik is reportedly in trouble with the law. According to a tweet by the pop culture update account on X, @SaycheeseDGTL, on August 2, 2025, the Louisiana-based rapper was arrested on weapon charges.
The news account stated that Maine Musik was taken into custody on July 31, 2025. No further information has been released. Maine, real name Demarcus Davis was released was released some eleven months ago after being sentenced to 75 months in prison in December 2019 for the charge of possessing a firearm by a convicted felon.
In 2016, rapper Maine was arrested on a similar firearm possession charge. According to Fox News, the rapper didn’t obey traffic regulations, and after the police pulled him over, an additional drug charge was imposed on him.
The Louisiana-born rapper has amassed a significant following due to the release of hit tracks like Weezy Flow and Hidden and collaborations with several notable artists. The rapper has three albums: Demarcus, 5.56, and Purple Label Babies.
He also released Spider Nation, the mixtape, in 2016 and was previously signed to No Limit Records.

US District Judge John W. deGravelles sentenced the rapper to 75 months in Federal prison after he was found guilty of the charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. According to a Justice.Gov publication, Maine Musik admitted in his pleadings that the sheriff’s office for the Livingston Parish district was conducting an August 2018 sobriety checkpoint on Highway 42 when the rapper’s vehicle approached, almost hitting the metal guard rail as it swerved.
The rapper was reported as reaching towards the floorboards. Maine, who didn’t have a driver’s license, was said to be rambling with shaky hands.
The officers at the scene also reported that they saw a pineapple Fanta product on his car console and suspected that it contained a controlled substance. The rapper also admitted to the police that he was on probation for possession of codeine syrup.
After his vehicle was searched, the deputies discovered a loose panic panel on the driver’s side. After removing the plastic, a loaded handgun was found.
US Attorney Fremin stated that rapper Maine Musik's conviction was a result of the efforts by law enforcement to rid the district of convicted felons who unlawfully carried firearms.
She added:
"I want to thank our prosecutor, the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the ATF for their excellent work in removing this defendant from the streets of Livingston Parish.”
