Why did Porsha Williams choose to openly share her relationship with girlfriend Patrice?

Porsha Williams is feeling great about her new partner, Patrice. The RHOA star spoke with People magazine in an exclusive interview on the red carpet at A Year in Time in New York City and revealed why she decided to go public with her first relationship with the same sex.

She told the news outlet that she wanted to live her truth with nothing holding her back, so she decided to launch her relationship with Patrice.

Porsha Williams said:

“I've been in reality TV for 10-plus years, okay. But yes, this was definitely different for obvious reasons,” she began. “I didn't want to hide any parts of me. I felt that if I did hide it and it had to be caught somewhere, it just wouldn't feel authentic.”

Adding:

“I want to live in my truth, and so in doing that, I have found someone who I really enjoy getting to know, and it's been great.”

Porsha Williams was also asked about what she loved about her partner. She replied:

“I think the best thing is when you find someone that you can see yourself in, and you guys match, and everything is comfortable, it's warm.”

Adding:

“You definitely want to be with someone warm who you can enjoy — and family. So I'm very blessed.”

Porsha Williams divorced Simon Guobadia after fifteen months of marriage. Speaking with People in June, Porsha shared that she would stay off dating for a while to focus on herself.

“It's lonely. I can't connect with other men. You would think I'm dating already and stuff, right? People try to introduce me. But it's just... when it's not the same, it's not the same,” she told the news outlet through tears.

The 44-year-old RHOA star added:

“I'm going to do it different this time. I'm going to be alone until I'm whole. And then when I'm whole, then I will open myself back up so I don't make the same mistake again.”

Some months after the emotional interview, Porsha announced that she was dating again. On November 28, the reality star went Instagram official with her first girlfriend.
